• The Post Endodontic Treatment of Teeth Presents

Serving to Alter Not Only the Procedure,but the
Very Paradigms of Treatment.

for Retention of a Restoration.
• Select a Post System That Provides Maximum
Retention, Yet Removes As Little As Possible of the
Remaining Subgingival Tooth Structure.

Form of post
• Parallel Posts Are More Retentive Than Tapered Posts.
• Parallel Posts Resist Tensile , Shear and Torquing Forces
Better Than Tapered Posts and Distribute Stress More
Evenly Along Their Length During Function,providing
Greater Protection Against Dentin Failure.

Surface Texture
• Has a Dramatic Effect on Retention & Stress Distribution.
• Retention Decreases As One Progresses From Threaded to
Serrated to Smooth Surface Configurations.

Importance of Post Length
• Increasing post length has a direct affect on retention
• Increasing post length has a significant effect on stress
distribution
• A reduction of compression and shear concentrations
occurs with increased post length

accurate adaptation to all root
canal configurations
• Least retentive of all post
• Generates high levels of
wedging stress

• It was the first of the
practical
manufactured aids to
post fabrication that
consistently & reliably
afforded post length
and fit

Composi post
• Carbon fiber reinforced root canal
post.
• In 1990 Duet et al,described a nonmetallic material for the fabrication
of posts based on the carbon-fiber
reinforcement principle.
• Carbon fiber posts are made of
unidirectional carbon fibers
embedded in an epoxy matrix.

• Wide variety of posts are available and include parallelsided,tapered smooth & serrated forms
• Esthetic versions of this post have a quartz exterior that
makes the post tooth colored.
• These post have a high tensile strength and modulus of
elasticity similar to dentin,has the lowest values for
stiffness,elastic limit,and strength of the post.


Flexi –Post
• Flexi-post is the patented splitshanked,parallel-threaded
posts.
• Achieves maximum retention
with minimal stress
• Split-shank design absorbs
stress of insertion by gradually
closing under pressure.The
post conforms & adapts to the
root rather than the root
adapting to the post.

• Based on the studies “The
flexi post system displayed
twice the retention of the
other systems evaluated”
• Retention comparable to
natural dentin with minimal
insertional & functional
stress.
• Available in five sizes

Luscent Anchor Post Technique
• The luscent anchor post
(Dentatus) is a fiber
glass,clear resin post
• It is designed to refract &
transmit natural tooth
colors for esthetic post &
foundations.
• Is Radiolucent
• Designed to be placed
passively in prepared
canals
• Available in 3 diameters.

Parapost Fiber White Technique
• A filled resin,mono-directional fibers matrix with
a flexural modulus that very closely
approximates that of the natural dentin
• White translucent
• Available in four diameters


• Zirconium post
• Light cure composite post

• Research on the biomechanics of posts and cores
over the past decade has replaced many of our
traditional ideas with data that more clearly
direct the dentist as to how and when to best
restore these teeth.
