in the Workplace

It’s an adjustment or modification made to a job or
the workplace or to the usual manner or
circumstances of performing the job that allows an
applicant or employee with a disability to
successfully apply for the job, perform the job or
enjoy the benefits and privileges of employment.
This also applies to the job application process.
What is a reasonable accommodation?

Ask your employer if
Putting it in writing
There’s no special process.

specific procedure in
order to make a
request.
Isn’t necessary.
How do I request a reasonable accommodation?

What do I need to tell my employer?
“I need an adjustment
or a change due to a
disability.”
Provide your employer
with enough information
to show your disability.
Only provide medical
records pertinent to your
request. 4
What happens next?
The employer may ask
you to fill out certain
forms or to follow
other procedures.
These procedures cannot
be used to prevent a
timely accommodation
from being provided or
addressed.
