Surgical technologists are part of the operating team who assist surgeons during operations by preparing operating rooms, supplies and patients for surgery. They ensure equipment is working properly, transport patients to operating rooms, and help prepare patients by giving them sterile garments and injecting fluids. Surgical technologists work in hospital operating rooms, outpatient clinics, and anywhere surgical procedures are performed. Formal education includes a high school diploma and certificate in surgical technology, as well as continuing education requirements.
