1. Chinese Exotic Architecture of the Art Deco Era
Hello! My name is Sarah Wang and I am currently an intern at the American Cinematheque, and we are
hosting an event at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday July 17, 2016 at 2:00pm that we were
hoping could be interesting to your members. The event is a talk on Exotic Chinese Architecture in
California and Los Angeles’ Chinatown will be highlighted with a presentation by the granddaughter of
Y.C. Hong, an immigration attorney who helped thousands of Chinese in Los Angeles to reunite with
families during the era of the Chinese Exclusion Act. Celeste Hong will show some footage of the “new”
Chinatown in 1938 shot by her grandfather and photos of his office in the Hong Building. More details of
the talk are below.

General admission is $11, but your members will pay $8. To promote this, we ask that you put the word
out to your members about the event via an email. In addition, we can offer you 2 pairs of tickets to give

We offer students a discounted price of $9 with student ID as opposed to our general admissions price of
$11.
The American Cinematheque presents Little Annie Rooney at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on Sat.
July 16, 2016 at 7:30pm! Co-presented by the Mary Pickford Foundation, this 1925 film produced by,
written by, and starring Mary Pickford highlights one of the most prominent female film icons of the 20th
century. Please help spread the word on this exciting event!
