Re: Employment Reference for Gentian Licenji
April 28, 2014
To whom it may concern,
Gentian Licenji has been a research assistant on a part-time basis in the fall 2013 and winter
2014 terms at the Ryerson Centre of Immigration and Settlement (RCIS). I understand that
Gentian is looking for employment and/or self-employment, now that his research assistantship
ended. I highly recommend him as a professional, competent, and creative worker.
Let me begin by providing background information on Gentian‘s work environment at RCIS.
RCIS aims to be a leader in the transdisciplinary exploration of international migration,
integration, and diaspora and refugee studies. In addition to supporting research in these areas,
the Centre’s mission includes mentoring students and consolidating Ryerson’s reputation as the
pre‐eminent site of knowledge development and exchange with governments, community
organizations, and other academics.
Gentian was hired as an IT specialist to contribute to the research project titled “Integration
Trajectories of Immigrant Families”. His position at RCIS included multiple tasks: First, he
constructed a communication forum in which all members of the research project and individual
teams can communicate with and among each other. In this context, Gentian had to overcome
multiple challenges, for example, related to Ryerson University’s security guidelines and the
university’s ability to host the forum. Second, Gentian was responsible for updating the RCIS
website and moving it to a new template.
Gentian has performed these tasks with enthusiasm and great competence. The RCIS team
appreciated most his creative abilities and his drive to find solutions to complex problems. He is
very organized and possesses excellent communication skills to identify problems and convey
possibly solutions to an audience that is less technically inclined. Gentian works very well in a
team as well as individually, and possesses a pleasant personality that has made him an
appreciated member of our team.
Overall, I have been very pleased with Gentian’s performance. I wish him good luck in his
career and highly recommend him as an independent contractor, an entrepreneur and/or a
worker.
Best wishes,
Harald Bauder, Ph.D.
Professor and Academic Director, RCIS
