 CDM has only a very narrow window of opportunity for MENA (pre-
2012 registration)
 Financing for GHG mitigation in MENA from industrialised countries
will orientate itself towards NAMAs
- Similar to traditional development cooperation, but with an
anchoring under UNFCCC
- less markets
 NAMAs are a possibility for MENA to receive support for (GHG
mitigation) activities with national priority setting
 Realistic expecations must prevail:
- Large-scale financing for NAMAs has not materialised
- Only concepts are under development
- Role of MENA to conceptualise NAMAs and demand support
(as specified in the Copenhagen Accords)
