Rama Setu is a bridge, mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana, that was reportedly built by the Vanara (ape men) army of Lord Rama. According to the epic, Rama's army of monkeys and bears built a bridge across the sea from Rameswaram Island in India to Sri Lanka to reach Lanka and rescue Rama's wife Sita from the demon king Ravana. The bridge is also called Adam's Bridge and is believed by some Hindus to be the first bridge that was built by Lord Rama's army to reach Lanka and rescue Sita.
