The document outlines 5 examples of perceived racism found in various media. These include African American characters in horror movies often being killed first, an experiment where people mainly interrupted an African American man allegedly stealing from a car but sometimes a white man and helped a white woman, a restaurant that made an African American customer pay before being served, a video where an elderly woman complained about a black man sitting next to her on a flight and he was moved to a different seat, and reports of stores using "codenames" to refer to shady customers of color.
1. Racism in Media
Here are the five different things that I found racist in some media.
1.) Every time when an African American person is on a horror movie, he’s usually killed
first/second.
2.) On YouTube there was an experiment that had 3 different people try to “steal” from a
car, an African American male, a Caucasian male, and a Caucasian female – People
mainly interrupted the African American, and sometimes the Caucasian, but the main
thing was that the standers even helped the female.
3.) One Restaurant would not serve a African American until he paid for his food first.
4.) I saw a video where the elderly woman was complaining about a black man who was
sitting next to her, the flight attendant went to look for another seat, and found one in
which he gave to the black man and made the woman stay in economy class.
5.) Some malls have “codenames” for shady – usually colored people that come into the
store.
