New York is the most popular city in the United States and the center of
the New York Metropolitan Area, one of the most popular city in the world.
Located in the Northeastern United States on one of the world's largest
natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is
a county of New York State. The five boroughs—The
Bronx,Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island—were consolidated
into a single city in 1898.The population of New York according to the
website nyc.gov as at 2013 was 8,405,837. I used this particular source as
it was an official government website and gave correct and up to date
information about the city.

3. Attractions
New York has many famous attractions which include;
•Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical
sculpture on Liberty Island in the middle of New
York Harbor, in Manhattan, designed by Frédéric
Auguste Bartholdi and dedicated on October 28,
1886, was a gift to the United States from the
people of France. The statue is of a robed female figure
representing Libertas. The height of the Statue of Liberty is
46 meters from the base to the torch. With the pedestal and
foundation included in the measurement, the full height is 96.

4. • Empire State Building
The Empire State Building is located in Midtown Manhattan, at the
intersection of Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street. It has a roof
height of 381 meters, and with its antenna spire included, it stands a
total of 443.2 meters high. It stood as the world's tallest building for
nearly 40 years, from its completion in early 1931 until the topping
out of the World Trade Center's North Tower in late 1970.
• Times Square
Times Square is a major commercial intersection and a neighborhood in
Midtown Manhattan, at the junction of Broadway (now converted into
a pedestrian plaza) and Seventh Avenue and stretching from West
42nd to West 47th Streets. Is the brightly illuminated hub of the
Broadway Theater District, one of the world's busiest pedestrian
intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment
industry.

between 48th and 51st streets in New
York City.
• Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is a bridge in New York City and is one of the
oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Completed in
1883, it connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn by
spanning the East River. With a main span of 486.3 m, it was the
longest suspension bridge in the world from its opening until
1903, and the first steel-wire suspension bridge.
• Central Park
Central Park is a public park at the center
of Manhattan in New York City. The park initially opened in 1857,
on 778 acres of city-owned land (it is 840 acres today).
Construction began the same year, continued during
the American Civil War, and was completed in 1873. Central Park
is the most visited urban park in the United States.

including details of the attractions. This is a credible source as it a published book with some
good reviews about it too. It gives the readers information about travel as well as other basic
things a person should know about. The book also has in-depth information about the city
including the history.

7. Transport
New York has various transportation. The most common and most
used by daily commuters is the subway. The underground link
connects all over the city of New York. This city is also famous for the
yellow cabs and these can be seen all around the city. As New York is
a busy city people prefer to take public transport as that is the most
convenient way for them.
The website ‘http://www.ny.com/transportation/’ has all the
information about the different transportation available including
costs. This website is credible as it’s also a site governed and looked
after by professionals and has true and accurate information.

8. There are numerous flight options available to travel to New York. Nowadays there are
many trusted travel sites to book your holidays. The leading booking company is known as
Expedia, they also do packages that include hotels and flights. Upon doing a search of a 1
week trip to New York from Sydney including hotels it costs approximately $4000. This of
course can vary depending on the airline, and hotel chosen. Flight and accommodation can
be booked separately to suit your travel needs. They also have a car hire service incase you
would want to drive around the city. Rates to New York are cheaper during their winter
period as people prefer the summer to travel.

9. Dining
New York is the home to some of the finest dining. You can find a great range of
food at competitive rates. You do not always have to spend too much money for
food as even some streets have take away food available at real low prices. The
no 1 food people eat in New York are hot dogs according to surveys conducted by
the New York Magazine. Los Tacos No. 1 has been voted # 1 restaurant in New
York by the biggest travellers review website www.tripadvisor.com.
