6. Web Design
Hyweb Technology Cooperation 2000~2003
I designed the visual style, prototype the front stage
experience and the backstage web platform. I also became
the hub of communication among the client, software
developer, and manager. The web design projects came
from:
• Government website and information management
portal
• Digital archive system
• Government internal information system
7. Interaction Design
LiteOn IT 2004~2005
I designed interface, and the operation flows for
home entertainment products. Due to the constraints
of system architecture, representation of colors and
memory size of the embedded system, I had limited
design solutions in the design style and use of
graphic and visualization.
Those projects helped me to learn how to provide
suitable design solution within the constraint of
software and hardware integration
8. Low-cost universal remote
control design proposal
LiteOn IT 2004~2005
Because of the market strategy of entry level
HDD/DVD recorder, it was not feasible to
customize remote control for each model. The
market available remote control for electronic
appliances was cheap but failed to provide
coherent experience
As a compromised solution, I suggested a cost-
down universal remote control which fitted all
Lite-On recorder product lines. Those buttons
were arranged with proper grouping and can be
easily customized by the different scheme and
cover printing.
9. UI flow and style guideline
design proposal
LiteOn IT 2004~2005
Because of the constraints of the embedded
system architecture, the color depths and
graphic used were limited. I suggested a minimal
design for the future generation of HDD/DVD
recorder.
While I focused on the use flow with simplicity
design, I also provided exemplify color skins,
which applied to the current system constrains
10. Language input with suggestions for
small screen devices
MiTAC inc 2006~2007
MiTAC was one of the leading brand in GPS navigation products in
Taiwan. While the software development team aimed at porting
current software to a mobile platform, they had encountered
difficulty to input English and Chinses character in their mobile
software environment.
I developed high-fidelity screen design proposals to demonstrate
the possible design of input methods. Coherent with the GPS
navigation product input, the use experience featured:
• Word predictions
• Keyboard layout similar to phone numeric key input
11. Experience scenario
proposal
MiTAC inc 2006~2007
I proposed five scenarios for the future
pedestrian GPS navigation, including:
1. Business purpose
2. Walking pedestrian
3. Travel
4. Social networking
5. Sports and music listening
14. Industry research collaborations
LiteOn IT 2004~2005
MiTAC inc 2006~2007
In my prior interaction design professional practices, I kept research connection with the
academics, introducing methods to the industries or explore immediate research issues
provided by the industries. Some exemplified projects are:
1. Usability evaluation of the “Easy Guider” function of the home entertainment product
interface.
2. User experience design methods and ideation workshop with LiteOn IT.
3. Using point of interests (POI), such as landmarks, as the critical information of voice
navigation for GPS products.
16. Describe and Analyze
Interactive Experience over
Time
Ph.D. dissertation
Indiana University Bloomington
2008-2015
In my Ph.D. graduate study, I explored long-
term user experience, such as from the first
time using mobile devices to take photos. I
also developed research methods to study
long-term users experience, and many of
them are visually rich.
The examples here are collected analysis
from a participatory workshop, demonstrating
the evolving of product for mobile
photography and the corresponded user
experience.

25. Energy saving design
guideline and principle
iNSIGHT / National Energy Project II
2017
Based on the prior research of the home
energy use behavior, I designed various home
energy information visualizations for a user
interview study. With feedback from our
interviewee, we outlined a home energy
information design principle, which was used
in the proof-of-concept mobile application
design, also the new Taiwan Power Company
electricity bill.
27. Participatory workshop
method development (cont.)
iNSIGHT / Younlin Health Foundation X-
Lab collaboration 2017
We developed a large-scale flow diagram based on
the concepts of role/responsibility, temporality, and
information flow happens in the Intensive Care Unit
(ICU) within a medical context.
We navigate with workshop participants the process
of an ICU patient case. Participating ICU doctors
and nurses, hospital architects, and technology
specialists contributed more details to the flow and
provided feedbacks of current issues. We also
designed cards of current or promising products
and technologies as probes for those participants to
imagine future technology implications.
