The survey results of 20 people showed that zombie and slasher films were the most preferred horror subgenres. Most people expect to see blood, jump scares, darkness, and death in horror films. The results also showed that people find out about new horror films through social media and TV rather than actively seeking them out. Additionally, the audience did not have a preference for the gender of the lead role.

2. Horror Film Questionnaire
We decided to create a questionnaire for the audience to fill in so that
we got a better idea of what they prefer and enjoy when watching
horror films. By doing this we can create our film specifically to the
chosen options making it more likely for the target audience to like
and enjoy the film.
We wanted to find out why the audience enjoys horror films and what
exactly puts them off watching any. If we know what the audience do
not like we can ensure that our film’s content is something that they
will like.

3. Favourite horror sub-genre
 From the pie chart we can see that the 2 preferred sub genres are Zombie
and Slasher, followed by Vampire, Monster/Alien and Other. We have
decided to with the Slasher sub-genre as it would be easier to present than a
Zombie, Vampire or Monster/Alien film. Also we would be able to create a
Slasher film effectively with the use of props and we may not have been able
to made the other sub-genres as effective. We were originally going to
produce a Supernatural/Slasher however from the results it seems as though
the target audience does

4. How the audience hears about new
films.
 From the results it shows that the target audience find out
about new films in a variety of places such as social
networking, TV and public adverts. This shows that in
general people do not seek out new trailers and instead
wait for them to be released publicly. This can suggest
that people do not actively seek out horror films but
instead watch them if the trailer or reviews seem
interesting.

5. What most people expect to see in a horror
film.
 This graph shows the most popular expectations in horror films. Number one
being blood followed by jump moments, darkness and death. These choices
highlight, quite quickly, the stereotypical horror environment. This is a helpful
question to ask as it shows what people expect to see. By knowing this we
can choose to follow the audience’s expectations or do something new and
unexpected. If we choose to do something unexpected in our film the
audience may not like it however it may be refreshing to change the typical
expectations.

6. Preferred lead?

whether the lead role is a male or female character. It seems that none of the
female people we asked t fill in the questionnaire said that they would
specifically prefer a male lead in the film and opted for either or female and only
one person from the entire survey selected male. This could show that the
audience does not really care for a ‘final girl’ but for the storyline of the film
instead. This may lead to
