The free event is open to the public and will feature hands-on visual and language arts activities inspired by nature such as gelatin printmaking using natural materials, clay cylinder making with natural impressions, Shibori dyeing with natural dyes, and creating nature poetry at the language arts station.

Hale Kula Elementary School participated in the global Cardboard Challenge, which was inspired by a video of a 9-year-old boy who built an arcade out of cardboard boxes. Over 900 students, 50 teachers, and volunteers at Hale Kula spent the day problem-solving, creating, and sharing various cardboard structures they built together, such as a cardboard maze. The event was a success thanks to the organizing teachers and the inspiration of the boy Caine who showed what can be built from cardboard.
