[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Quality Improvement in HIV Clinics in Uganda: An Evaluation Dr R Southgate Public Health Specialty Trainee, Oxford Deanery Introduction Methods Nine of the 17 Data Management Collaborative sites were selected for evaluation, chosen to represent a range of clinics sizes.  Sites were visited in October 2009 (baseline) and May 2010 (follow-up) by two teams of data collectors.  Three tools were used to obtain data: Record retrieval time tool .  The time taken to register a patient and retrieve their medical record from the clinic filing system was measured for ~50 patients and an average calculated. Record completeness tool .  Six fields of a patient’s record card should be completed at each clinic visit.  For 50 randomly selected records the number of fields completed at visits at baseline and follow-up was assessed and average  record completeness was calculated. Structured clinic manager interviews  were conducted to obtain data on interventions introduced; changes in clinic closing times (and thus staff time saved); and costs of participation in the collaborative.
