Patent Opposition in India
Indian patent law allows two kinds of patent oppositions which include pre-grant patent opposition and post-grant patent opposition. Moreover, the recent heave in patent filings in India is attributed to the revolution in the Indian Patent System on 1st January, 2005, when India signed the Trade Related Aspects Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) agreement, wherein Section 25 of The Act was amended in light of the TRIPS agreement to introduce an “integrated” system of both pre-grant patent opposition and post-grant patent opposition in India.
Under pre-grant opposition, any person can represent for opposition, in writing, to the Indian Patent Office, against the grant of a patent after the application for a patent has been published, but a patent has not been granted. The pre-grant opposition procedure acts as a protective shield to check the validity of patent applications before a patent is granted on them. Additionally, pre-grant opposition acts as a business strategy, whereby competitors exploit it as an opportunity for opposing unjustified protective rights.
With regards to opposition after the grant, or post-grant opposition, at any time after the grant of patent but before the expiry of period of one year (12 months) from the date of publication of grant of patent, any person interested may give notice of opposition to the Patent office. This type of opposition is similar to the opposition proceedings under the European Patent Office (EPO) as the opposition is made after grant.
The grounds for both pre and post-grant opposition are identical and there is nothing to preclude a pre-grant opponent from subsequently filing a post-grant opposition. However, despite the similarities, there are also several procedural differences between the two types of opposition.

(57) Abstract :
The present invention provides a robotic arm which resembles a human arm and has five fingers. It uses its fingers to grip and lift
objects and complete a wide variety of tasks. It is designed so as to imitate all human arm and finger motions as closely as possible.
For providing motion to the different parts of the arms and connecting them together, servo motors are used. Each finger can bend at
three positions and very closely resembles the finger of human being. Each finger is made of aluminum alloy and is mounted on a
palm made of aluminum. The connection between the fingers and the palm is made using cycle chains. The servos motors attached to
each finger are responsible for pulling the fingers inward whereas the elastic strip attached at the back of each finger is responsible for
pulling the fingers outward. This whole hand assembly is mounted on a servo shaft. This servo is used for providing human wrist like
rotation for the palm of the robotic arm. This is then connected to a forearm assembly which in turn is connected to a shoulder
assembly using two servos. These two servo motors together provide to the forearm of the robotic arm, the capability to move in a
fashion similar to the human forearm. This entire assembly is then connected to a upper arm section on one end while the second end
of this section is connected to another servo which has the maximum load bearing capacity and is used to move the entire arm
assembly up and down. The two servo motors used for the elbow, the one used for the shoulder and the one used for the wrist are
controlled wirelessly using Xbee radios and Arduino mega boards and receive their input signal from accelerometers mounted on the
human arm. Similarly, the servo motors used for all five fingers are also controlled wirelessly using the same Xbee radios and Arduino
mega boards but receive their inputs from the flex sensors mounted on the human fingers with the help of a glove. Thus by moving his
arm and fingers, the person can wirelessly control the movement of the entire robotic arm with the range of wireless control being
limited only by the range of the Xbee radios used. The robotic arm can be used in a variety of chemical facilities where the mixing of
hazardous chemicals is done through robotic arms. Furthermore, it can be used in nuclear power plants where radio-active substances
are mixed using grippers. Aadvanced application of this robotic arm includes use in automated bomb defusal units and for lifting
heavy objects in industry.

(57) Abstract :
Our invention aims at creating a Humanoid robot so as to aid both, the defense and rescue services by providing them with a robot
which can work in hazardous environments. The invention consists of 2 parts, where upper body resembles a human body and lower
part is a crawler (which resembles a tank). The human head is replaced by mobile phone camera, with video call facility so as to
provide visual input to the user and show the user the things the robot sees. The Robot has 2 hands which resemble human hands
extending from the shoulder to the fingers. These hands/arms are capable of imitating nearly every movement a human arm can
perform. A user wirelessly communicates with the robot. The upper part is controlled wirelessly using Xbee radios. The robots fingers
receive their input from flex sensors attached to gloves and the elbow, the wrist and the shoulders of the robot receive their input from
accelerometers which are attached to the elbow, the wrist and the shoulder of the human body (controller). Also an accelerometer
attached to the head is responsible for controlling head motion of the robot. The lower part of the robot resembles a tank and is
designed so to traverse extreme terrains and climb stairs (and thus infiltrate buildings). The crawler (or the lower body of the robot) is
controlled using mobile using DTMF which is achieved by making a call to the mobile phone attached to the robot. The crawler is
capable of moving in 4 directions, namely, left, right, forward and backward. These motions are achieved using the same differential
mechanism as that used in a tank. The robot has mainly 2 modes of operation:- 1) Robot mode -The height of the robot is reduced and
is brought to the minimum height possible(by using the car jacks) and all hand movements and camera movements are disabled. Only
the lower body that is the tank like crawler is allowed to move according to user input along with the camera which continues to
provide visual input to the user, thus acting as surveillance robot. 2) Humanoid mode - in this height of the upper half of the robot can
be increased according to the need of the controller. All motions including hand, fingers and head motion are enabled and the robot is
now capable of performing different tasks.

(57) Abstract :
The present invention relates to providing a hot rolled low carbon steel grade with high cold reducibility suitable for producing low
thickness galvanised sheets and a process for producing such grade of steel. The present invention claims the advancement of
achieving higher reduction ratios during subsequent cold rolling operations making thinner sheets available for galvanizing through
the use of developed low cost grade of steel having a composition comprising optimum combination of carbon, manganese and boron.
In the hot rolled low carbon steel grade, a small amount of boron is added to pin the nitrogen and improve the strain hardening index.
The boron is added to deliberately tie up any free nitrogen in the steel as boron nitride, thereby reducing tensile strength and work
hardening rate and increasing ductility. Such unique combination of properties with high strain hardening exponent (n) and high total
elongation resulted in higher percentage of cold reducibility with reduction ratio>90% of hot rolled coils.

(57) Abstract :
The present invention relates to high strength corrosion resistant structural steel with improved surface quality for railway freight
wagon body and similar applications where savings in weight (mass) and added durability are matters of concern and a process for its
production. The composition of the invented steel grade involving optimum combination of Mn, Nb, Ti & Cu in a corrosion resistant
structural steel helped in achieving higher strengths even at lower thickness <3mm of hot rolled coils. Copper is added for corrosion
resistance, Mn & Nb for increasing the strength and Ti for surface finish. Judicious selection of alloying elements in combination with
copper helped achieve high strength of the steel without compromising the surface quality eliminating corner cracks, favourable
ductility and having consistent and high UTS favouring advantageous application required for thin sheets such as those used in
railway wagons.

(57) Abstract :
A new grade of wire rod steel with improved drawability having a simple composition comprising low carbon and low manganese and
a process for its production involving controlled rolling parameters and controlled cooling, which can be directly used for
manufacturing thin welding electrodes (<1 mm) by wire drawing for advantageous application in MIG welding of thin sheets.
Importantly, in the present process for producing the steel grade with improved drawability slow cooling of low carbon steel is
implemented by adoption of full retarded stelmor cooling by covering the stelmor cover to achieve slow cooling to have optimum
microstructural combination of pearlitic core resulting in sufficiently high YS. The developed grade has lower UTS but sufficiently
high YS to match the requirements of high reduction during electrode drawing and for its use in welding simultaneously.

(57) Abstract :
A sugarcane bud chipping device is disclosed that chips buds from sugarcane plant stems. The bud chipping device includes a driving
pulley, a pedal assembly, a clutch assembly, and a chipper assembly. The chipper assembly is selectively activated by pressing a pedal
of the pedal assembly that engages the clutch to transmit the power from the pulley to the chipper assembly. A chipping tool of the

(57) Abstract :
The size, cost and performance of different kinds of electrical machines like transformers, alternators, induction motors, induction
generators, synchronous motors, d c motors, exciters, etc. always play crucial role in the operation and reliability of power system.
Their replacement costs ranging from a few thousand to millions of rupees. Monitoring and classifying internal faults in these
electrical machines are still challenging problems for power system engineers because of the various types of possibility like false
tripping caused by the magnetizing effect of the inrush current, mal operation of transducers, etc. The purpose of present invention is
to introduce methodology to know the status of the important kind of electrical machines used in power sector. The algorithm is
designed base on the availability of minimum online and offline measurable parameters. The existing online parameters like winding
temperature, oil temperature, low oil level, bearing temperature, speed etc. applied as online input parameters for the design of
condition monitoring assessment algorithm. This Condition Monitoring System (CMS) avoids the unnecessary outages, prevent
breakdowns thereby increases the availability of the equipment and cause considerable savings in the economy of utility. The main
advantage of the model is that it can be applied for online monitoring to all types of static and dynamic electrical machines. Following
invention is described in detail with the help of Fig. 1 showing the algorithm developed for CMS, Fig. 2 showing the connection
schematic diagram for this CMS. Fig. 3 shows the online, offline and overall module for this computational intelligence based CMS.

(57) Abstract :
The oil (Hydraulic Oil) which is pumped by the HYD PUMP connected to the tractor normally flows from the BRAKE VALVE and
enters into the EXISTING HYDRAULIC SYSTEM OF TRACTOR. Whenever the auxiliary operation is to be done by the tractor the
pressure from the line is prevented to enter the brake cylinder because of the check valve provided after the ANTI PRESSURE
ADDING VALVE (Say pressure P1) When the Brakes are applied by used of Master cylinder on the tractor the same oil (Brake oil) is
used as a Pilot to actuate the BRAKE VALVE and the Hydraulic oil enters the TRAILER BRAKE CYLINDER and pressurizes the
same the max pressure can be set using the ANTI PRESSURE ADDING VALVE device, this device has two function a) This device
control brake pressure when brakes are operated b) In case the back pressure is exerted by the auxiliary equipment, then this valve is
operated by the back pressure and nullifies the brake pressure and so only the master pressure of the auxiliary system is exerted, thus
the pressure adding on the line before the brake valve is prevented. . As soon as the pressure increases the pressure P1 the oil is bypassed and returns in the hydraulic system of the tractor and thus the other operation is also possible at the same time. if the Load on
the hydraulic system of the tractor exceeds P1 then depending upon the load the P1 also varies up to the pressure setting of tractor
hydraulics and thus when the load reduced below P1 the brake pressure does not come below P1.

(57) Abstract :
Paper based documents are used as proof of identity, financial transaction instruments, promissory notes etc. for a large number of
transactions in the world. However, establishing authenticity of the documents or establishing identity using the paper documents is a
difficult, time consuming process and often results into uncertainty. Some of these documents, e.g. currency notes, are very difficult to
verify. We have invented an identification system, which recognises characteristics of the medium on which the document is printed
by identifying inclusions in the medium, and uses these characteristics to verify the document. The system may also be further used in
other systems / processes or in combination with other systems / processes.
