This document summarizes research examining the relationship between early childhood health and cognitive outcomes using data from the Growing Up in Ireland survey. The research finds that some measures of child ill health are associated with significantly lower vocabulary and reasoning test scores at age 5, independent of demographics, socioeconomic factors, and educational environment. Specifically, conditions impacting daily life and poor health as reported by caregivers showed associations with lower scores. While the health factors explained only a small percentage of test score variation, the effect sizes were not insubstantial. The conclusions call for further research using larger datasets to examine additional health measures and older age groups.
Suzette Fromm-Reed, PhD & Wytress Richardson, EdD Presentation at 2016 Science of HOPE
Description:
The purpose of this presentation is to explore the implications of research that examined community buffers to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and consider how to build and sustain organizational and community resilience. Specifically, findings will be explored indicating community buffers were at least as important as individual level resilience and are needed to sustain the impact of individual level resilience. The study examined: 1. Adult surveys from Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), (N=30,000), 2. Youth surveys examining risk and protective factors (N= 200,000) and 3. Public agency data (from merged social, health and education agency databases) for different communities (N=120) in Washington State (all merged data for 2009-2012 by the Foundation for Healthy Generations in Seattle, funded by the Gates Foundation and presented by external consultants). The intent of this presentation is to engage in a dialogue about the implications of the findings.
Dr. Gerry Higgins presented on psychiatric pharmacogenomics. He discussed challenges in the field such as lack of objective diagnostic measures and high rates of adverse drug events. Assurex Health, where Dr. Higgins works, has developed pharmacogenomic tests for psychiatry drugs. Studies show their tests improve outcomes and reduce costs. Dr. Higgins also discussed discovering novel pharmacogenomic variants and pathways through epigenomic mapping. One pathway they identified mediates lithium response for bipolar disorder and involves genes like SESTD1 and RAC1. Further studies by other researchers validated this pathway's role in lithium response.

Introduction to Voice Broadcast System for schoolsKarnatakaOER
This document describes an Interactive Voice Response system using free and open source software that allows schools to send voice messages to parents and students by connecting a computer to a data card and SIM card. The system allows schools to record an audio message on a mobile phone or computer, transfer it to the computer, connect to a data card and SIM, input phone numbers, and use the Swara software to make voice calls to share information and notifications with parents and students quickly and inexpensively. Larger schools may prefer to use an external service provider for higher call volumes.
2. Presentation on planned program TCoL h ms workshop july 13, 2018KarnatakaOER
The document outlines a teacher community of learning program focused on professional development, improving school processes, and supporting school development. The program includes workshops on topics like technology integration, digital literacy, and developing curriculum ideas for subjects like math, languages, and sciences. Suggested block programs provide an indicative schedule for workshops on using technology for teaching math and languages. The goal is to improve teaching practices and build teacher capabilities through collaborative learning opportunities.

STEM summit at CIET -Experiences from KarnatakaKarnatakaOER
Teachers in Karnataka government high schools formed collaborative communities of practice to improve student engagement, build teacher capacity, and leverage local resources. The partnership between DSERT and ITfC embedded these communities on a large scale within the school system, with teachers learning new teaching methods, students becoming actively involved in their science education, and schools creating their own educational resources. Evaluations found that communities of practice, open technologies, and integration into teacher training programs were effective ways to improve education on a large scale.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.
