K2 Intelligence's report on media transparency exposed a pervasive issues relating media buys and rebates. Now, it's time for marketers to take action. The steps in this presentation provide a starting point for achieving media transparency.
The Army recognizes that social media gives people the ability to communicate with larger audiences faster and in new ways. It has become an important tool for Army messaging and outreach. The Army uses a variety of
social media platforms designed to support a range of media from text, audio, pictures and videos; all of which are generated and maintained by organizations and individuals within the Army Family. The Army understands
the risks associated with social media and has developed training to help Soldiers and Family members use social media responsibly @ www.slideshare.net/USArmySocialMedia

Resilience managing the risk of natural disasterBob Prieto
Resilience: Managing the Risk of Natural Disaster considers risk management strategies, risk identification methods, and pre- and post- event activities to minimize risk. Post-event recovery is a more widely understood field, as practitioners have a plethora of lessons learned from completed projects. Pre-event planning as a means of minimizing damage and downtime is a lesser developed field, and this book organizes both literature supported data and the authors’ anecdotal experiences into a framework for disaster management, spanning pre- and post- event.
Speakers: David Shannon, Program Manager/ Community Disaster Education, American Red Cross
Donna Platt, Emergency Education Program Manager, Hearing, Speech & Deafness
Center
This session will provide an overview on the Disaster Preparedness Skills Training for Deaf, Deaf-Blind
and Hard of Hearing event which was coordinated by several organizations (emergency responders and
non-profit agencies). This event which was held twice in Seattle turned out to be educational for both
emergency responders and attendees as they learned each other‟s needs and responsibilities in
emergency preparedness. Also this event drew attention from other community based organizations and
emergency responders who expressed an interest in setting up in their location. Tips on setting up an
event and mini-activities will be given. Also pros and cons (or lessons learned) will be discussed.
