SUMMARY AND
RECOMMENDATION
•After several weeks of deliberation, investigation, and
information gathering, the Elysium Technical Services
team and CROISS management came to conclusion that
HP along with their after-sales services would be the
best client/service provider for CROISS Manufacturing,
LLC.
•Though price comparisons between the two chosen
vendors (the total price of Dell products and service
($1,081,767) to the total price of HP products and
service ($1,139,824), Dell is the more affordable
alternative, but the 3-years annual service from HP, in
the long-term, would pay for itself.
SOFTWARE ASPECT
After the recent expansion of CROISS Manufacturing,
LLC, and careful deliberation on what server and client
infrastructure would best support the client’s financial,
hardware and software needs, we at Elysium Technology
Services make the recommendation to use the current HP
hardware specs (with necessary modifications) for your
client/server configuration – Software Focus.

SERVER (APPLICATION AND

•The servers are going to run on Windows Server 2008
instead Windows Server 2012. Due to the following
reasons:
• Windows Server 2012 only supports 64 bit processing
• Windows Server 2012 mainly supports Windows 8 while Windows
Server 2008 works with Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit)
SERVER (APPLICATION AND
DATABASE), CONT’D
•Windows 2008 has been trusted to run on all of our
modern pcs.
• Windows 2012 is too new, and will affect our a steady migration(a
sharp switch may not be advisable in training our IT Technicians and
staff).
CLIENTS (TABLETS)
•The present operating system we will use is the Android
Version 4.0. The reason we our using Android Version
4.0 is the fact that it does not require the use of physical
buttons. No touch pads require the use of physical
buttons, and Android fits that qualification.

CLIENTS (LAPTOP/DESKTOP),
CONT’D
•The Operating System we are choosing to run on our
laptops and desktops is Windows 7 Ultimate. The
reasons for our decision are as follows:
• Windows 8 is brand new, and it would be difficult to train our
personnel who are used to Windows 7.
• The best features of Windows 8 are based on the touchscreens(in
which we could supply them, but are at great cost).
CLIENTS (LAPTOP/DESKTOP),

Ease of Access Unless accessed
remotely, you must

Can be accessed on any
machine the user is
currently using.
Back Up Can back up to the
cloud using SkyDrive,
or through the use of
your personal
hardware(flash drive,
CPU hard rive). This is
optional
Can put all of your
backups on the 365
cloud.
Security Takes time to breach
security since the user
must be on the
machine to access the
file(or know a persons

information).
Takes less time to
breach the system since
the user only needs to
know the user’s office
365 information, and
get into the cloud.
OFFICE APPLICATION
SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION,
CONT’D
•The conclusion has come to the use of the Office 2013
Productivity Suite. While 365 is easier to access, security
concerns are top priority.
CLOUD DATA
BACKUP/STORAGE
•While the risk factors of losing data completely in the
event of fire (or any other environmental conditions) are
of high concern, using offsite data storage management
in place of cloud is the route worth taking.
• While cloud maintains data automatically, hackers can obtain the
user’s information to access the data.

DATABASE MANAGEMENT
SERVER/CLIENT, CONT’D
•While Oracle can still maintain performance at larger
capacities, Microsoft SQL is the server of our choosing.
• Access(the client) is supported by SQL
• For the training of Database Analysts, they are instructed in the use
of Access.
• It is less expensive than oracle(especially since Access comes with the
Office 2013 productivity suite).
COLLABORATION
•Due to the fact that the Office 2013 productivity suite
provides Microsoft Outlook, Skype, and SharePoint, we
believe that the unique features they posses inspire us to
use all three depending on the time of need.
Outlook: Email communication
SharePoint or Skype: Video Conferencing

ERP CHOICE
In order to maintain successful relations with Microsoft,
and have an easy start with the use of ERP applications,
Microsoft Dynamics would be the choice worth making.
Having a firm agreement with Microsoft can potentially
lead to discounts on their various/unique products.
THE FUTURE
The importance in choosing your software is to keep up
with a steady migration schedule. The most important
aspect is to make sure that all of your software can be
upgradeable without potentially scrapping the current
software of your choosing (to monitor business cost).

  • 22. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION •After several weeks of deliberation, investigation, and information gathering, the Elysium Technical Services team and CROISS management came to conclusion that HP along with their after-sales services would be the best client/service provider for CROISS Manufacturing, LLC. •Though price comparisons between the two chosen vendors (the total price of Dell products and service ($1,081,767) to the total price of HP products and service ($1,139,824), Dell is the more affordable alternative, but the 3-years annual service from HP, in the long-term, would pay for itself.
  • 23. SOFTWARE ASPECT After the recent expansion of CROISS Manufacturing, LLC, and careful deliberation on what server and client infrastructure would best support the client’s financial, hardware and software needs, we at Elysium Technology Services make the recommendation to use the current HP hardware specs (with necessary modifications) for your client/server configuration – Software Focus.
  • 24. FEATURES OF WINDOWS SERVER 2008 VS WINDOWS SERVER 2012 Features Windows Server 2008 Windows Server 2012 Installation Options[Server Core] All configuration and maintenance is done entirely through use of the command line interface, or by using the remote desktop option on the Microsoft Management Console(MMC). All configuration can be done either through the command line interface or with the GUI Interface. Active Directory Roles • The Active Directory Recycle Bin has no GUI. • Changes resulting in • The Active Directory Recycle Bin has a GUI interface. • Is aware when changes are made through virtualization.
  • 25. SERVER (APPLICATION AND DATABASE), CONT’D •The servers are going to run on Windows Server 2008 instead Windows Server 2012. Due to the following reasons: • Windows Server 2012 only supports 64 bit processing • Windows Server 2012 mainly supports Windows 8 while Windows Server 2008 works with Windows 7 (32bit or 64bit)
  • 26. SERVER (APPLICATION AND DATABASE), CONT’D •Windows 2008 has been trusted to run on all of our modern pcs. • Windows 2012 is too new, and will affect our a steady migration(a sharp switch may not be advisable in training our IT Technicians and staff).
  • 27. CLIENTS (TABLETS) •The present operating system we will use is the Android Version 4.0. The reason we our using Android Version 4.0 is the fact that it does not require the use of physical buttons. No touch pads require the use of physical buttons, and Android fits that qualification.
  • 28. CLIENTS (LAPTOP/DESKTOP) Features Windows 7 Enterprise Windows 8 Enterprise Maximum Physical Memory 64 bit 192 GB 512 GB Remote Desktop(Client and Host) Yes Yes Start Button Appears Directly on the bottom left of the taskbar. It is not directly on the taskbar, and there is no indication that you have to scroll directly to the bottom left corner of the taskbar. Touch Screen Windows 7 does not support touch screen. The best features for Windows 8 require the use of the touch screen. Apps Windows 7 requires you to visit the It has a large amount of unique apps.
  • 29. CLIENTS (LAPTOP/DESKTOP), CONT’D •The Operating System we are choosing to run on our laptops and desktops is Windows 7 Ultimate. The reasons for our decision are as follows: • Windows 8 is brand new, and it would be difficult to train our personnel who are used to Windows 7. • The best features of Windows 8 are based on the touchscreens(in which we could supply them, but are at great cost).
  • 30. CLIENTS (LAPTOP/DESKTOP), CONT’D •Windows Server 2008 is still being used (not to mention it is used with Windows 7… not 8)
  • 31. THIN CLIENT Features Windows Embedded Standard 7E Windows Embedded Standard 2009 For which Operating System Based On Windows 7 Windows XP Key Components/Apllications • Windows Media Player 12 Runs on Windows 7 • AppLocker and BitLocker are brand new features for Windows 7. • Remote Desktop Protocol 7.0 • .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 • Windows Media Player 11 • Remote Desktop Protocol 6.1 • .NET Framework 3.0 Processor and Hardware Support 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x64) 32-bit (x86) Minimum 126MB
  • 32. THIN CLIENT, CONT’D •Windows Embedded Standard 7E is the Operating System we recommend to be used with our client. It works perfectly well with Windows 7, and Windows Embedded Standard 2009 only works with Windows XP.
  • 33. APPLICATION SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION •We decided to put all of our application software on the server for easy distribution, computer management, upgrading, and security monitoring.
  • 34. OFFICE APPLICATION SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION Features Buying Office 2013 productivity suite Individually Office 365 Online Service. Ease of Access Unless accessed remotely, you must use the machine in which the suite was installed. Can be accessed on any machine the user is currently using. Back Up Can back up to the cloud using SkyDrive, or through the use of your personal hardware(flash drive, CPU hard rive). This is optional Can put all of your backups on the 365 cloud. Security Takes time to breach security since the user must be on the machine to access the file(or know a persons SkyDrive information). Takes less time to breach the system since the user only needs to know the user’s office 365 information, and get into the cloud.
  • 35. OFFICE APPLICATION SOFTWARE DISTRIBUTION, CONT’D •The conclusion has come to the use of the Office 2013 Productivity Suite. While 365 is easier to access, security concerns are top priority.
  • 36. CLOUD DATA BACKUP/STORAGE •While the risk factors of losing data completely in the event of fire (or any other environmental conditions) are of high concern, using offsite data storage management in place of cloud is the route worth taking. • While cloud maintains data automatically, hackers can obtain the user’s information to access the data.
  • 37. ANTIVIRUS FOR CLIENT AVG Norton 360 Free mobile protection included N/A Essential protection for your Android device N/A Detects and stops viruses, threats and malware Stops viruses, spyware and other threats before they can do damage Stops unsecure links and files Automatically backs up and encrypts key files to local or online storage, so you can get them back in case of hard drive failure or other mishap Prevents spying and data theft Blocks phishing websites that could steal your identity and annoying, potentially dangerous spam (and Stop hackers from stealing identity) Keeps PC running smoothly and fast. Protects against online dangers without sacrificing performance
  • 38. AVG ANTIVIRUS •Because mobile phones and tablets will be used to conduct business, AVG providing free mobile and android device protection will be suitable.
  • 39. DATABASE MANAGEMENT SERVER/CLIENT Features Oracle 11g Database Structured Query Language 2012 (SQL 2012)w/ Access Database Capacity Performance Terabyte sized for larger databases. Mainly a few hundred gigabytes. Storage Management Automatic Storage through • Partitioning • Advanced Compression Data and Page Compression Operating System Compatibility Works well with Windows and Linux Works well mainly with Windows (all 2008 or 2012)
  • 40. DATABASE MANAGEMENT SERVER/CLIENT, CONT’D •While Oracle can still maintain performance at larger capacities, Microsoft SQL is the server of our choosing. • Access(the client) is supported by SQL • For the training of Database Analysts, they are instructed in the use of Access. • It is less expensive than oracle(especially since Access comes with the Office 2013 productivity suite).
  • 41. COLLABORATION •Due to the fact that the Office 2013 productivity suite provides Microsoft Outlook, Skype, and SharePoint, we believe that the unique features they posses inspire us to use all three depending on the time of need. Outlook: Email communication SharePoint or Skype: Video Conferencing
  • 42. SYSTEM MANAGEMENT Tivoli Framework by IBM System Center Configuration Manager by Microsoft Enterprise Integration Provide remote control IP Management Patch management Sysplex and System Management Software distribution Automation Operating system deployment Security Network access protection
  • 43. SYSTEM MANAGEMENT, CONT’D •Both have the useful functionality needed to be successful, but Tivoli Framework is the software of choice.
  • 44. ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING (ERP) EXPLANATION •ERP contains many applications with unique features that support many companies personal needs. • Syspro • EPICOR • SAGE • PLEX SYSTEMS • Microsoft Dynamics
  • 45. ENTERPRISE RESOURCE PLANNING SOFTWARE General Features Syspro Microsoft Dynamics Database Platform MS SQL Server, Other MS SQL Server Financing Options Leasing, Owner Financing Leasing, Owner Financing, Financing User Range 4-1000 5-750 Operating System Server Linux, Windows Windows Services Support Training and Education Support Options Financial Management • Payroll • Accounts Receivable • Accounts Payable • Business intelligence • Financial Intelligence
  • 46. ERP CHOICE In order to maintain successful relations with Microsoft, and have an easy start with the use of ERP applications, Microsoft Dynamics would be the choice worth making. Having a firm agreement with Microsoft can potentially lead to discounts on their various/unique products.
  • 47. THE FUTURE The importance in choosing your software is to keep up with a steady migration schedule. The most important aspect is to make sure that all of your software can be upgradeable without potentially scrapping the current software of your choosing (to monitor business cost).
