The project involved upgrading QAPCO's main ethylene production plant in Qatar to improve safety, reduce emissions and waste, and increase productivity. Taiwan-based CTCI was the main contractor for the first phase of the project from 2011-2013, which included installing new furnaces and storage tanks using advanced combustion, waste control, and monitoring technologies. The upgrades are expected to lower nitrogen oxide emissions and reuse coke to prevent environmental contamination while boosting fuel efficiency and ethylene yield.
