This document outlines the process for identifying new project ideas. It discusses that the first step is generating ideas through techniques like SWOT analysis and defining clear objectives. Then, ideas are monitored based on factors like the economy, policies, technology and competition. A self-assessment evaluates the organization's strengths and resources to screen ideas. Preliminary screening examines compatibility, government priorities, inputs and risks. Finally, a project rating index assigns weights and ratings to factors to quantitatively score and compare ideas. The highest rated ideas are selected to further develop into potential new projects.
Digital financial service plays a paramount role to enhance financial inclusion and digitizing services is no longer an option for financial institutions in general and banks in particular. Digitization has become the means to increase customer base and outreach rural areas and low-income clients. Needless to mention, large segments of the population are financially excluded in the developing world including Ethiopia, and digital solutions allow banks to enhance customer engagement and product usage, which in turn enhances financial inclusion.
Telco-banking partnership became inevitable to enhance digitization, which helps to enhance customer base for both parties. Strategic partnerships between telecom companies and banks made significant contributions in terms of productivity, profitability and digitization. Telecom companies played a pivotal role in the growth of the banking sector allowing customers to make financial transactions using their mobile phones. Partnerships between Telecoms and banks have become strategic game changers in the financial industry, and enables high value financial services for the retail and SME markets in particular.
Such partnerships have also mutual benefits for the parties. Telecoms can streamline their financial models and gain quick access to high quality, customizable and transparent bank services. This optimization may help gain a better customer experience and build brand loyalty for the telecoms. On the other hand, banks can gain access to a larger pool of customers, gain traction in the mobile payments sphere, and strengthen their target markets.
This report was initiated by the invitation of the Ethio-Telecom for a partnership to provide a microcredit and saving products on its Tele-Birr platform in accordance with the relevant directives of the NBE. Based on the assessment of best practices and the regulatory framework, this report critically reviews the partnership agreement proposal of the Ethio-telecom, and comes up with an alternative proposal that would mutually benefits both parties.
2. Key Objectives of the Partnership
The government of Ethiopia has taken many initiatives to enhance digitization and financial inclusion. The level of the financial inclusion in Ethiopia is weak, but an enabling environment is being created to enhance financial inclusion. Recently, a directive has been issued to integrate financial institutions with various payment instrument issuers with the objective of enhancing financial accessibility. Per the directive No. ONPS/01/2020, licensed payment instrument issuers are allowed to provide micro saving, micro credit and micro insurance products under the full responsibility of and written outsourcing agreement with a regulated financial institution and pension funds.
Ethio telecom is licensed by the National Bank of Ethiopia as a payment instrument issuer in accordance with the national payment system proclamation number 718/2011. Further, as per the NBE directive stat

US Economic Outlook - Being Decided - M Capital Group August 2021.pdfpchutichetpong
The U.S. economy is continuing its impressive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and not slowing down despite re-occurring bumps. The U.S. savings rate reached its highest ever recorded level at 34% in April 2020 and Americans seem ready to spend. The sectors that had been hurt the most by the pandemic specifically reduced consumer spending, like retail, leisure, hospitality, and travel, are now experiencing massive growth in revenue and job openings.
Could this growth lead to a “Roaring Twenties”? As quickly as the U.S. economy contracted, experiencing a 9.1% drop in economic output relative to the business cycle in Q2 2020, the largest in recorded history, it has rebounded beyond expectations. This surprising growth seems to be fueled by the U.S. government’s aggressive fiscal and monetary policies, and an increase in consumer spending as mobility restrictions are lifted. Unemployment rates between June 2020 and June 2021 decreased by 5.2%, while the demand for labor is increasing, coupled with increasing wages to incentivize Americans to rejoin the labor force. Schools and businesses are expected to fully reopen soon. In parallel, vaccination rates across the country and the world continue to rise, with full vaccination rates of 50% and 14.8% respectively.
However, it is not completely smooth sailing from here. According to M Capital Group, the main risks that threaten the continued growth of the U.S. economy are inflation, unsettled trade relations, and another wave of Covid-19 mutations that could shut down the world again. Have we learned from the past year of COVID-19 and adapted our economy accordingly?
“In order for the U.S. economy to continue growing, whether there is another wave or not, the U.S. needs to focus on diversifying supply chains, supporting business investment, and maintaining consumer spending,” says Grace Feeley, a research analyst at M Capital Group.
While the economic indicators are positive, the risks are coming closer to manifesting and threatening such growth. The new variants spreading throughout the world, Delta, Lambda, and Gamma, are vaccine-resistant and muddy the predictions made about the economy and health of the country. These variants bring back the feeling of uncertainty that has wreaked havoc not only on the stock market but the mindset of people around the world. MCG provides unique insight on how to mitigate these risks to possibly ensure a bright economic future.

what is the future of Pi Network currency.DOT TECH
The future of the Pi cryptocurrency is uncertain, and its success will depend on several factors. Pi is a relatively new cryptocurrency that aims to be user-friendly and accessible to a wide audience. Here are a few key considerations for its future:
Message: @Pi_vendor_247 on telegram if u want to sell PI COINS.
1. Mainnet Launch: As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, Pi was still in the testnet phase. Its success will depend on a successful transition to a mainnet, where actual transactions can take place.
2. User Adoption: Pi's success will be closely tied to user adoption. The more users who join the network and actively participate, the stronger the ecosystem can become.
3. Utility and Use Cases: For a cryptocurrency to thrive, it must offer utility and practical use cases. The Pi team has talked about various applications, including peer-to-peer transactions, smart contracts, and more. The development and implementation of these features will be essential.
4. Regulatory Environment: The regulatory environment for cryptocurrencies is evolving globally. How Pi navigates and complies with regulations in various jurisdictions will significantly impact its future.
5. Technology Development: The Pi network must continue to develop and improve its technology, security, and scalability to compete with established cryptocurrencies.
6. Community Engagement: The Pi community plays a critical role in its future. Engaged users can help build trust and grow the network.
7. Monetization and Sustainability: The Pi team's monetization strategy, such as fees, partnerships, or other revenue sources, will affect its long-term sustainability.
It's essential to approach Pi or any new cryptocurrency with caution and conduct due diligence. Cryptocurrency investments involve risks, and potential rewards can be uncertain. The success and future of Pi will depend on the collective efforts of its team, community, and the broader cryptocurrency market dynamics. It's advisable to stay updated on Pi's development and follow any updates from the official Pi Network website or announcements from the team.

1. Chapter three
Project Identification
The search for promising project idea is the
first step towards establishing a successful
venture.
As traditional saying goes
“ The key to success lies in getting into the
right business at the right time”.
Identification of meaningful project idea
requires,
• Imagination
• Sensitivity to environmental changes
• Realistic assessment of what a firm or
organization can do
1
2. Project Identification(Cont …)
Identification is often the outcome of a
triggering (iterative) process rather
than an analytical exercise.
While the notion of identification is
simple it is difficult to develop methods
or procedure for accomplishing it.
2
3. Project Identification(Cont …)
However, there are certain broad guidelines
which are helpful in the generation and
screening of project ideas
Project identification commonly follows the
following procedure.
1.Generation of ideas
2.Monitoring the environment
3.Corporate appraisal ( self assessment)
4.Preliminary screening
5.Project rating index.
3
4. 3.1. Generation of ideas
Most of the new project ideas are a result of
Specialized technical knowledge or
Marketing expertise
To stimulate the flow of project idea the
following are helpful.
i. Analysis of Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities
and Threats (SWOT):
SWOT analysis represents a conscious and
deliberate , and dynamic effort by an
organization to identify opportunities that can
be exploited.
Periodic SWOT analysis facilitates the
generation of new idea
4
5. Generation of Ideas (Cont …)
ii. Clear articulation of objectives
The operational objectives of the organization may help
to generate ideas.
The operational objective of business firm for example,
Cost reduction
Productivity improvement
Increase in capacity
Expansion and growth
Can be helpful in generating the project idea.
5
6. 3.2.Monitoring the environment
The organization must systematically
monitor the environment in which it will
operate.
In other words the organization is
expected to monitor the following key
environmental factors in relation to each
of identified ideas.
Economic aspects
State of the economy
Possible fluctuation in the economy
6
7. Monitoring the environment (Cont …)
The degree of integration with the world
economy
National policy
Sectoral policy
Government program
Tax policy
Government support
Financial policy
Technological factor
Availability of technology
Accessibility of the available technology
7
8. Monitoring the environment (Cont …)
Socio demographic factor
Population size and distribution
Education level
The nature of competition (for
business firms)
Number of firms in the industry
Nature of entry
Nature of input supply
Availability
Cost of row material
8
9. 3.3. Self assessment and scouting the
project idea
A realistic appraisal of the organization’s
strength and weakness is essential to select the
best idea that can be realized as a successful
venture
To screen the project idea in terms of this aspect
the following suggestions are helpful.
a) Analyze the industry (sector) and analyzing the
organization in terms of,
Its capacity (I.e., whether the organization has
the capacity to implement or to put into practice
the proposed idea).
Analyze the project in term of the benefit
(profit) that it will provide to the society ( firm).
9
10. Self assessment (cont …)
b) Examine the input or resources requirement
and firms ability to make it available
c) Review its innovativeness
d) Study government plan, outlays, and
guidelines: This analysis is important
because;
It will help to see if the idea is in line with
the government priority area
It helps to check if there are guidelines that
need to be followed if the project idea is
acceptable.
f) Suggestion of financial institutions and
development agencies. (that is investigating
priority area of development agencies )
10
11. 3.4. Preliminary screening
In some cases it is possible to have a long list
of project ideas.
In such cases some kind of preliminary
screening is required to eliminate ideas which
are not promising.
For that purpose the following aspects could be
looked into
a) Compatibility with the promoter: The idea
should be compatible with
• The vision,
• Mission,
• and goal of the promoter
11
12. Preliminary screening (cont…)
In business venture, it should be compatible with
the owner’s objective. In other words,
It has to fit with the personality of the owner
Acceptable to the firm’s owner
It offers the prospect of rapid growth and
high return.
b) Consistence with government priority: Evaluate the
project idea in terms of the government priority.
Here we ask questions like,
Is the project consistent with the national
goal and priority ?
Are there any environmental effect ?
Will there be any difficulty to obtain
permission?
12
13. Preliminary screening (cont…)
c) Availability of inputs
d) Adequacy of the market
e) Cost of the project:
f) Acceptability of risk level: The desirability of the
project idea depends upon the level of risk
associated with it.
When a large number of project ideas are
evaluated, it may be helpful to streamline
the process of preliminary screening.
13
14. 3.5 Project rating index
For that purpose a preliminary
evaluation may be translated into a
project rating index.
Steps involved in the process of the
project rating index are,
Identify factors relevant for project
rating.
Assign weight to those factors ( the
weight are suppose to reflect their
relative importance).
14
15. Project rating index (Cont…)
Rate the proposed idea on various factors
using a suitable rating scale (typically a 5-7
point scale is used)
For each factor, multiply the factor rating
with the factor weight to get the factor
score
Add all the factor score to get the overall
project rating index..
The following table illustrate the
determination of the project rating index.
