The first reading charges range between MR 20 to 30 as shown in the table above. The
charges include proofreading, editing, and reviewing the draft. A page here means the one contains
around 250 words. The pages of Table of Contents are counted as normal pages regardless of the
number of words. Tables and figures are not considered, but captions and in-table and in-figure text
are considered if requested by the client. Page setup should be as follows: font size 12; double
spacing; top, right and bottom margins 2.5 cm, and left margin 4 cm. Pages should be numbered.
Samples of editing can be shown to you. Few pages as a sample can be edited and proofread
before you decide, but you will be charged for the edited pages accordingly. Supervisory comments,
suggestions and feedback will be also provided if needed. If there is a need for a second reading to
all or some of the problematic parts of the draft or a face-to-face discussion about problematic
sentences, re-wording structures and/or organisation, you will be charged MR 50 per hour as shown
in the table under the column of Consultation. A deposit should be banked in/paid which depends
on the type of service needed.
Biodata: Ghayth al-Shaibani holds a doctorate in English with five years of experience (2011-
2016) as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). Currently, he
holds a new academic position as Visiting Honorary Lecturer at USM. He has been a freelance
proofreader, editor, and consultant of academic research since 2004 and a reviewer in three Scopus
and Refereed journals since 2012. He has published an academic book, The Iraq war 2003: a
critical discourse analysis and several research articles on critical discourse analysis,
anthropological linguistics, pragmatics, translation, and literacy. He has been supervising
postgraduates since 2011. He conducted several workshops on academic research writing for
postgraduates since 2010. Academic expertise in proofreading, editing and consultation involves
different areas of research such as Physics (medical & solid), Pharmacy, Biology, Chemistry,
Computer Science, IT, Dentistry, Food Technology, Management, Planning, Economics, Arts,
Education, and English. Dr. Ghayth has also a scientific background as a former science student
which empowers him to proofread and edit scientific research.
