Remember:
Getting Ready for College
To make sure my first year in college would begin
well, I did several things. First, I arrived on campus
a couple of days before classes began. I got a map
and toured the campus so that I would know the
locations of the library, the bookstore, the cafeteria,
and my classrooms. In addition, I bought my
textbooks and spent a few hours getting to know
them. Reading the table of contents and
introduction in each book gave me some general
ideas about what I was going to learn. I also visited
the college website several times. The site taught
me about the faculty, student services like the
tutoring center, and important dates on the college
calendar. Finally, I talked to several new students
like myself. After all that, I really felt comfortable.
