1. PROBLEMS WITH OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

 Effort- Kids enjoy video games due to the little to no effort in going into a new adventure
 Other Kids or partners- people enjoy to do activities with others and when people are also
staying inside, then those people aren’t able to have someone join them
 Decreasing Outdoor-sy places- Industrialization is taking away waterways or woods places where
kids would be able to do the activities such as kayaking or climbing a tree.

Possible Solutions
 Virtual Reality- This could engage kids in outdoor activities within the home
Problem- WII pretty much had this and failed, also wouldn’t get the kids actually outside
 Reducing Efforts- Kayaks and canoes are extremely hard to transport, and once onto the water,
hard to maneuver in some cases
Problems- Doesn’t get the kids actually to areas where they could participate in the activities,
just makes it easier.
 My favorite IDEA- a kind of pool that creates a sensation as if
kayaking or on the water.
Problem- Costs and safety
To solve costs- make it so that its like a park attraction instead
of an everyday home thing… which wouldn’t also be that bad
Engineering the Pool
 Safety concerns- How would one flip him/herself over if flipped?
If a person loses strength, how would one be able to exit safely?
How powerful do the jets need to be to be able to simulate a sensation close to actual kayaking
in rapids?
Which type of kayak would be best suited in the simulated environment?
 Cost Concerns- Not too familiar with what’s cheap and/or expensive in this industry
 Engineering concerns- Size? Also a safety concern.

2.  Kit that builds onto a pool or could be installed with pool. Possible other accessories that could
be sold along with kit but system costs roughly 10 grand.
