This document provides tips for using MapInfo ProViewer including: using multiple named windows; zoom layering tables; using the Workspace Packager tool to package and share workspaces; labeling, searching, and styling tools; limitations around copying data, querying, and reopening tables; and issues with printing, rasters, and zoom levels.

2.  Zoom Layering
 Close any
unused tables
 Use multiple, named windows
 Any table can be searched for all attributes
regardless of indexing (newer versions)
 Use Workspace Packager tool



Create new folder
Save workspace there
Copy entire folder into ProViewer executable folder

Removes clutter/adds detail
Color attributes Over raster
Note zoom level/scale at extents , mid zoom and detail
zoom
Add second instance of tables for context
Be sure each instance is properly labeled

into Farm_Zones
 Change style such as Green boarder if all
parcels are shown, order subsets above the
base in layer control
 For Zoom layering, You can add the same
table multiple times, use Style Override to
change attributes to fit context of zoom
level

Run the tool
Copy entire folder into ProViewer executable folder
Save workspace there

17. Can not Copy attribute data from records
 Can not browse selection, open browser in workspace
 No query capability, design in workspace
 Shape Files Can be used in Workspace, but must first
be opened in Mi Pro and have a TAB file (Cannot open
directly in ProViewer)
 Opening new tables from ProViewer will open a new
mapper.
 Closing a table cannot be reopened as layer
 Find function-can confuse end user, but has same
flexibility as Mi Pro
 Once an object has been labeled, it cannot be
undone/erased/cleared, workaround- close and
reopen the workspace.

