The student chose to present the village of Bărcănești because they spent many years there as a child with their grandparents. Bărcănești is located in Prahova County, Romania. In 1898, it was the only village in the commune and had 502 inhabitants, a church founded in 1838, and a school with 45 pupils. The student has many fond memories of spending holidays there as a child, learning to roll, enjoying grilled foods with cousins, and youthful adventures driving at night while intoxicated.

3. Why did I choose this village?
I chose this village because my grandparents lived there and I used to do the same until nine
years.
The village has plenty of advantages :
• It is a very quiet village
• it is possible to grill even in the yard
• but the most important is that the air is very clean and free from any pollution.

4. Where it is located ?
Bărcăneşti is the village of the commune with the same name in Prahova County, Muntenia,
Romania.
A first attestation of the name is a document by Petru the Young, dating back to 1567,
attesting to the acquisition of the Barcanesti estate (not to mention if there is a village there),
by the logger Coresi, from a certain Manea.
In 1898, the village was the only village in the commune, located in Crivina, Prahova
County. The village had 502 inhabitants, a church founded in 1838 by Scarlat Bărcănescu,
and a school founded in 1890, functioning in a building owned by the same Scarlat
Barcănescu, with 45 pupils (of which 2 girls).

5. Memories
I have some many memories here
I’ve spent for a few years the Christmas and the New Year, I learned to roll, I tasted the best
grill made by my cousin in the yard, but the best part was when I and a few friends got
drunk and I going by car during the night, while shouting extremely loudly to retard.
