...The force of habit and the routine of getting around, coupled
with our current society’s lifestyle, contribute to preventing us
from strolling and taking time to look and observe. It is however
precisely during these very moments that everything around us
takes on aesthetic meaning. Try going for a walk in a village
that you often travel through, with the intention to stroll. You
won’t see the same things; it will be easier to enjoy the visual
“sights”. In the first place, this circuit provides an opportunity to
(re)discover our surroundings.
Furthermore, the V i s i o n circuit provides insight into the way
Ulla Reimer sees the world. It is indeed about observing and
not transforming. The images are hardly retouched at all. Most
of the work was done during shooting. Viewers will see the
images just as the artist saw them during her wanderings around
the area, those very same images that can be seen when our
cultural shackles are cast off before looking. Visitors will have
the opportunity to see our area through the eyes of Ulla Reimer.
Ulla Reimer invites viewers to combine their own vision with hers,
by contemplating the images. Concentrate on what the images
evoke and what they inspire. It doesn’t matter if the viewer feels
that they are “beautiful” or not, the only important thing is to
concentrate on feelings. For Ulla Reimer, images are a source of
emotion. She not only draws on it, but reflects it. A very clean and
simple image can express a lot and convey many emotions.
The process of artistic photography is very different than that of
reporting. For this project, Ulla first wanted to know what the
villages were like and what their themes and particularities were,
in order to get to know them better. Then she began to rove around
with her camera in hand, and it was only then that she began
shooting. The images therefore express feelings. They are not
just simple photographs of villages; they are filled with emotion,
Ulla Reimer’s emotion. Sometimes joyous, sometimes agonizing,
will viewers perceive it? The artist hopes that viewers will enjoy
the photographs before reading about her own interpretation,
because it is important to her that viewers simply... look.

An ode to the image
« As we move
around going about
our daily routine, we
are unable
to properly
appreciate
the visual show
which
is offered up to
us each day ».

Comment from the artist:
For me, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is about the vineyards and the castle.
I loved Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the winter. Winter paves the way for
emptiness. The fields are bare, everything is clean.
These two images are installed on a dry stone wall. The first one re-
flects the material of the arch, with just a sliver of light that delicately
illuminates the building. The other image features the very special ligh-
ting in the south, outlining the purity of the vineyards, revealing only the
essential.
Both images bring to mind the clean sense of sight, the sensation of
blowing wind, and the capacity to hear the grape vines growing.
I hope that viewers will let themselves go past the abstract, in order to
create their own space.
The stone benches in the square are conducive to taking a break and
enjoying a moment’s daydream.

Installation 5
Yin et Yang
Installation on the hill leading up to the castle.
Yin et Yang consists of two images with identical characteristics:
200 cm x 135 cm, vinyl prints mounted on dibond. The white
image is a photograph of the vineyards,
and the black one is a shot of the entrance
to the Châteauneuf-du-Pape castle.
Comment from the artist:
The work was done backwards here. I was particularly inspired by this
location and I really wanted to use this wall. We were lucky enough to
receive the owners’ consent. I wanted to take advantage of this fabulous
view of the castle, and the fact that the installation would be in the line
of sight of the castle when driving up. Then I had the idea to work on the
clouds and sky. On this image, the church is very dark. Churches bring
up very particular things in me. I often photograph them with dark,
threatening skies, to reflect what I feel.
Installation 6
Installation on the road to Orange in Châteauneuf-du-Pape
This photomontage consists of 4 photographs:
two are 156 cm x 156 cm and two are 156 cm x 80 cm.
The photos were taken at the St Pierre
de Luxembourg chapel.
It is a single photograph that has been cut up.

Comment from the artist:
These two images were the source of the development of this project.
When I took this photo for tourism purposes, the idea came to me about
showing my vision in black in white. The location was determined based
on the light effects that this room offers.
The reflection of the bars provides for different images all throughout
the day. This installation was designed to establish harmony between
the fixed image and the shadow moving with the sun. It is a visual sight
with differing expressions from one hour to the next.
This installation is particularly captivating between 1 pm and 7 pm. A
video will soon be posted to the FB page for those who don’t have the
opportunity to experience it themselves.

Installation 11
Vertical-Horizontal
Installation in the covered market
These images are
vinyl prints mounted on dibond.
They are all the same size:
210 cm x 126 cm
Comment from the artist:
This installation was designed to highlight the village’s paddle wheels,
which the City Hall intends to renovate. The selected location won us
over thanks to its intimist layout.
All of the shots were taken at the double paddle wheel on Route de Ve-
dène. The idea here was to bring the static wheels back to life, through
strong emotion, yet without necessarily expressing any particular ex-
planation, just bringing up a feeling of letting go.
This is the last installation, the final one on the circuit.
Installation 12
Poème à cinq vers
Installation on Place Charles De Gaulle
This frieze consists of 21 photographs
printed on vinyl and mounted on forex.
One photograph measures
50 cm x 24 cm and the other 20 are
24 cm x 32 cm.

2010 - 2011 (In)Organique
In 2009 during a humanitarian project Ulla met Caroline Carles.
Seeing the work of Caroline, Ulla is amazed by the sensibility
and the images that emerge, however, carried out with extreme
rigor of reflection. lt will offer a year later to Caroline to
Combine their work in joint exhibitions.
2012 South Korea
The year 2012 brought Ulla to Seoul in South Korea where she
loves the atmosphere and found strong inspiration. Fascinated
by the culture and language, the dynamic people, she decided
to move for a while to Seoul working on new projects.
2012 Yin and Yang
The Korean flag, and particularly the yin and yang symbol, was
a strong inspiration for this series. Yin and yang sound oppo-
sing forces but they are complementary forces. For example,
light cannot be understood if darkness doesn’t exist, and sha-
dow cannot exist without light. Most of her artworks combine
nature and artificial objects and that make the mutual whole.
For Ulla, Yin and yang is a mystery that makes her discover this
city, paint her grey palette with colors and express new things
with freedom.
