SAINT LUCI LEADERSHIP VISITS UNITED KINGDOM
AS PART OF NETWORKING EFFORTS
Newly elected Political Leader of the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) Mr. Allen Chastanet visits the
United Kingdom (UK) as part of a three (3) member delegation from September 28th
to October 8th
, 2013. The
leadership is eager to foster new relationships and to strengthen existing ties with like-‐minded political
organizations. During the visit, Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Stephenson King and Political Leader Allen
Chastanet will participate in the 2013 Conference of the British Conservative Party.
Mr. Allen Chastanet in speaking about the upcoming meetings explained: part of a deliberate
effort to forge ties with political parties which share our values. We are now faced with major global
challenges which pose particular threats to small island developing states (SIDS) like Saint Lucia. We must seek
to engage our friends in an ongoing discourse aimed at formulating strategies to confront the challenges and
threats which befall us .
will be held at the IHG Crowne Plaza, the City, London, on Sunday, October 6th
, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Political Leader, Mr. Chastanet explained that this is the first of many meetings which will be held to engage
the Saint Lucian diaspora throughout (Canada, USA and UK for example). The Party recognizes the critical role
of the Saint Lucian diaspora in the development discourse and is eager to dialogue with our Diaspora on
matters of national interest. The meeting is also opportune, as it seeks to gauge the various needs and
interests of Saint Lucians living in the UK in particular, and build on a strong legacy of social and economic
exchanges of mutual benefit.
