MAIDANA RESEARCH Wins $850,000 Department of Energy Phase II SBIR
Grant for R&D in Advanced Technologies for Nuclear Energy
Engineering designand scientificresearch companyMAIDANA RESEARCH chosenbythe
U.S. Department of Energy to tackle tough problem of developing software and
computational tools for the design and fabrication of nuclear components for the next
generation of nuclear reactors with further applicability in the energy, space, industrial and
medical sectors.
Idaho Falls, ID, June 27, 2016: MAIDANA RESEARCH announces today that the U.S.
Department of Energy (DoE) has awarded it a 2 year, $846 thousand grant, for the study and development
of computational tools and software for the design and fabrication of liquid metal thermo-magnetic
systems for advanced nuclear applications. The results of this project will have applicability on the next
generation of liquid metal reactors, thermal control systems for spacecrafts, advanced nuclear propulsion
systems, targetry and machine protection mechanisms on high energyparticle accelerators, nuclear fusion
devices, and biomedical engineering.
The project will be managed by Dr. Carlos O. Maidana, Managing Director and SBIR Project Manager
at MAIDANA RESEARCH. Dr. Maidana is a distinguished physicist and research engineer with over 15
years of experience in research, design and development with a vast experience in international and cross
