An award-winning documentary film about blues legend Son House will premiere at an event at the GEVA Theatre on December 15th. The evening will include a memorial for Son House, hors d'oeuvres, drinks, and a question and answer session with the film's director, Carvin Eison. Son House was born in Mississippi but later moved north to Rochester to work on the railroad, overcoming hardship including alcoholism before finding success late in his music career. The documentary, titled "Yonder Come the Blues," is being released by Image/Word/Sound, LLC, a media production company founded in 1993.
