A wooden gate specialist was appointed by an architect to replace an old heritage gate in London that was decaying. The specialist used Sapele wood to craft an exact replica of the original gate's design so that it would pass inspection by the heritage department. A black water-based stain was applied to make the new gate quickly take on a weathered, period-appropriate appearance to match the original structure.
