2. AS A DESIGNER THINGS ONE SHOULD CONSIDER FROM
ENVIRONMENTAL PERSPECTIVE
As a designer one should really consider people’s comfort first. That can be achieve by planning house
while maintaining environmental perspective. One must design the house in such a way as to take
advantage of the favourable and mitigate the adverse characteristics of the site and its climate features.
 Orientating building in way that the largest openings are facing the wind direction.
 Wind shadow should be avoided in positioning the building on the site and in positioning the opening.
 With a presence of an outlet opening there can be effective air movement through the building.
 Full wall openings on both sides, with adjustable sashes or closing device can be the best arrangement.
 Designing veranda space and large roof overhangs can protect house from rain water.
 Gaps between two building can ensure proper air and light movement.
 Proper size of opening should be maintain to get the best result.
These are just some of the things one should keep in mind. There are many more things like air
temperature, humidity, solar radiation etc. which one should consider while designing.

3. A FLOOR’S PLAN:

• Two windows in both
bedroom which ensure
good ventilation.
• No tall buildings or light
blockers around the site.
• Casement windows have
been used which ensures
78% air to enter into
house.
• Adequate daylight
• In the bedrooms there
are also ventilator close
to ceiling.
• Attic vent fan is installed
in kitchen space.
ADVANTAGES
• bedrooms are facing
north instead of south.
• No openings facing
south.
• West facing room get
heated due to long
period of direct
sunlight.
• Sliding windows have
been used in veranda
which doesn’t let air to
enter properly.
• Rain water can enter
by the louvers . No
proper shading to
protect from rain or
direct sunlight .
