Mathematics has been around since the
beginning of time and it most probably
began with counting. Mathematics is
everywhere in this universe.
It is a part of our lives. We cannot do a single
moment without mathematics. It has made our
everyday life easy and comfortable. Official and
personal life or we can say our daily life become
paralyzed without mathematics.
INTRODUCTION
Different kinds of functions are performed by
mathematics. It works with numbers, counting, and
numerical operations. It is used to calculate something. It
can be done both technically and manually. Large and
complicated mathematical problems are solved by the
computer software. On the other hand, easy mathematical
operations are performed without the help of any machine
or computer software. In official works like banking,
policy, school, college and universities mathematical
calculations are done by technically.
Math affects every single part of our daily lives whether
we clean the house, make supper or mow the lawn.
Wherever we go, whatever we do, we are using math
daily without even realizing it. It just comes naturally.
What are the uses of mathematics in our life?
Few examples to explain use of mathematics:
 In the kitchen
 In garden
 Sports
 In Hospitals
 In Banks
 Architecture
 Fashion designing
 Chatting on mobiles
 Shopping
 Entertainment world
IN THE KITCHEN
 The basic materials needed for delicious food
need to be measured out and sometimes
converted into different measurements.
Without a basic understanding of math, this is
impossible
 Cooking needs math so that we will use the
right amount of each particular ingredient,
and we will also need to be able
to calculate how much we will need for the
amount of people we are feeding.
Even doing work in garden requires a basic
math skill. Geometry and algebra are
often used when planning gardens or
landscaping to find the area of the plot
of land and figure out how many plants
you can put in the space.
If you need to plant or sow new seeds or
seedlings you need to make a row or count
them out or even make holes. So even
without thinking you are doing math.
Measuring skills is always needed, and
calculations of the essence when doing
something new in the garden.
IN THE GARDEN
 From basic addition to probability and
statistics, math is used everywhere in
sports.
 sports announcers use math to report the
facts and to make their own predictions.
They use math to calculate the new score
of a game when a team completes a play
successfully.
SPORTS
o Both doctors and nurses use math
every day while providing health care
for people in the hospitals. They use
math when they write prescriptions to
their patients for various ailments.
 Prescriptions indicate a specific
medication and dosage amount. Most
medications have guidelines for dosage
amounts in milligrams (mg) per kilogram
(kg). Doctors must also determine how
long a prescription will last.
 Medical professionals use math when
drawing up statistical graphs of
epidemics or success rates of
treatments. Math applies to x-rays and
CAT scans.
IN HOSPITALS
 Mathematics and banking are closely
connected. Bank is full of transactions. In
turn the transaction is nothing but
mathematics.
 Mathematic skills are needed to insure
the money is coming from and going to
the correct places. When someone
deposits or withdraws money from a
bank, more math is involved to calculate
the total in their accounts. Banking
requires constant use of mathematics.
Often times, complex formulas are
necessary to compute interest and loans.
IN BANKS
ARCHITECTURE
 Mathematics and architecture are
related. Architects use mathematical pr
oportions to shape buildings.
 Mathematics is used by architects to
express the design images on a
drawing that can then be used by
construction workers to build that
image for everyone to see.. The sizes
and shapes of the elements of a design
are possible to describe because of
mathematical principles such as the
Pythagorean Theorem.
 Architects use math to calculate the
square footage of rooms and buildings,
to lay out floor space dimensions and
to calculate the required space for
other areas such as parking, plumbing,
etc.
ARCHITECTURE
mathematics is used in communications by
transmit ions because when bending transmitted
codes are used to deliver your message and to
decode your message so the person you are
sending it to can hear or read the message.
 Chatting on the cell phone is the way of
communicating for most people nowadays. It's
easy, accessible and cost effective. Every one has
a cell phone and it requires a basic knowledge of
skill and math. You need to know numbers and
how they work, and with today's technology you
can do basically everything on your cell phone,
from talking and faxing to surfing the Internet.
CHATTING ON MOBILES
 Fashion designers use area, perimeter
and diameter as well as mathematical
algorithms to help create designs and
calculate the amount and cost of fabric
required. Math is also used when
designs are created digitally. Accurate
measurements are necessary to make
clothes.

etc… it’s all about math!
 There are several types of math used when we buy something. First, we
use counting and addition used in order to tell how much money we have.

subtraction is used in order to figure out how much change is due.
SHOPPING
o Math has influenced the entertainment world. The
Music is heavily influenced by math--rhythms, beat,
meter--all of this is math-based. Without math, music
would not be as advanced and intriguing as it is today.
o Use of math is essential. Camera men must calculate
lens angles, and light aperture attachments.
o Animated films, constructed entirely on computers,
trigonometry helps rotate and move characters,
algebra creates the special effects that make images
shine and sparkle, and integral calculus helps light the
scenes.
ENTERTAINMENT WORLD
The advantages of mathematics in our life cannot be
described in words. It has opened a new dimension to us.
We cannot do a single moment without mathematics.
It helps us to solve difficult mathematical problems. We
cannot create any building, picture, furniture, good art,
wallpaper, room, bridge etc.
 We can compare between two with the help of
mathematics. We use mathematics in our everyday life
such as in banking transactions, buying or selling any
product, giving or taking money, creating something,
measurement of demand etc. Any kind of treatment is not
possible without mathematics.
 Maths is unavoidable. Without math, there would be no
science, no music , no art. Today there is no any place
where mathematics is not used.
