The document describes an ultra low-power microprocessor called RuChip being developed by a company in Singapore. It aims to solve the problem of inefficient search servers by developing a specialized processor optimized for search applications. The key parts of the processor are a general purpose block based on ARM/Atom cores for low power and a network processing block to optimize bottlenecks in search engines. The company aims to validate the design through a proof-of-concept and target the growing search server market led by companies like Google and Yahoo.
A Short Introduction to Semantic Web-based E-Commerce: The GoodRelations Voca...Martin Hepp
In this slidecast, I will give a brief overview of how the next generation of Web technology, known as the "Web of Data" or the Semantic Web will improve our e-commerce shopping experience. In particular, I will explain how the Web of Data - will allow for more precise search for suppliers for our particular needs and - how manufacturers can support retailers in presenting their products including all distinct features.

The GoodRelations Ontology: Making Semantic Web-based E-Commerce a RealityMartin Hepp
A promising application domain for Semantic Web technology is the annotation of products and services offerings on the Web so that consumers and enterprises can search for suitable suppliers using products and services ontologies. While there has been substantial progress in developing ontologies for types of products and services, namely eClassOWL, this alone does not provide the representational means required for e-commerce on the Semantic Web. Particularly missing is an ontology that allows describing the relationships between (1) Web resources, (2) offerings made by means of those Web resources, (3) legal entities, (4) prices, (5) terms and conditions, and (6) the aforementioned ontologies for products and services. (1NDN)
In the talk, I will explain the need and potential of the GoodRelations ontology, introduce its key conceptual elements, highlight several lessons learned, and summarize design decisions with respect to to modeling approaches and the appropriate language fragment, which may be relevant for other ontology projects, too.

Hollywood's Cloud-Based Content Lakes: Modernized Media Archives (MAE203) - A...Amazon Web Services
Content lake architecture can evolve the media workflow by providing efficiency from content security all the way to value-added services, such as machine learning and content monetization. In this session, technical leaders from 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros., and Astro Malaysia discuss the migration of their petabyte-scale video libraries (production and distribution archives) to the cloud in order to increase the customer reach and value of their media archives. Discover some of the lessons learned, the TCO analysis around various different storage tiers, the challenges and best practices from 10s of petabytes ingest, storage, and value-added compute at scale.
Transforming Software Architecture for the 21st Century (September 2009)Dion Hinchcliffe
Evolving an important theme I've been working on and presenting all year, this new deck summarizes how enterprise architecture and large scale technology-based business solutions must transform to be more effective in the 21st century.
Contains material on a hypothesis for what's wrong with today's EA as well as potential solutions of merit such as emergent architecture, WOA, enterprise REST, open supply chains (APIs), mashups, and other models.
Presented this week in Oslo Norway to Bouvet's enterprise architecture council.
The presented case study is about Siruna NV, which has developed software for real time deployment of mobile websites through a dual Open Source business model. Although this model is not widely adapted, this model can be easily copied as far as it helps to cover development costs by the help of a large and free developer community, helps to market the product, quickly, sets a reference in a rapidly evolving market and succeeds in creating value within an open source setting.

Middleware the open-source way: technical superiority and business opportunit...Francois Letellier
Presentation delivered at LinuxWorld 2005, San Francisco. www.flet.fr
Middleware is the new frontier for open source and brings opportunities to contain costs, to focus on innovative engineering, to find new sources of revenue and to go to market with unique competitive advantages. With members in about 80 countries and a team of 400 committers, ObjectWeb is a fast-growing, nonprofit organization that focuses on high-quality open source middleware. For example, JOnAS from ObjectWeb was the first open source application server developed in a nonprofit way to achieve J2EE certification. The benefits of open standard compliant, production-grade middleware is made available to everyone as an alternative, or as a complement, to proprietary solutions.
In this presentation, you’ll learn how open source players come together to build an ecosystem where users find high quality software and professional services. Case studies of open-source middleware deployed in production in government, healthcare, financial institutions and more will demonstrate that, however hidden, open source middleware is now a mainstream option that you should consider too.
Hadoop World 2011: Hadoop in a Mission Critical Environment - Jim Haas - CBSiCloudera, Inc.
Our need for better scalability in processing weblogs is illustrated by the change in requirements - processing 250 million vs. 1 billion web events a day (and growing). The Data Waregoup at CBSi has been transitioning core processes to re-architected hadoop processes for two years. We will cover strategies used for successfully transitioning core ETL processes to big data capabilities and present a how-to guide of re-architecting a mission critical Data Warehouse environment while it's running.
A presentation I gave in the AlphaGeeks meetup regarding NoSQL and other methods to boost software system performance. We were talking about Sharding, NoSQL, Memcached, In Memory Databases, CouchDB, Hadoop and SimpleDB.
Feel free to contact me regarding the presentation. Moshe Kaplan.
Presentation from 6th June 2017, covering IBM Systems PoV, WW Executive ownership of IBM Power Systems, challenges in our industry, Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Intel's Strategic direction, IBM Power Systems strategic direction, OpenPOWER Foundation, OpenCAPI, Nutanix and POWER9
What started as a way for web giants to solve problems of serious scale has become the default way all enterprises manage Big Data. Despite having a catchy, if inaccurate title, there really isn't a coherent "NoSQL" category, nor is there a simple future for the range of NoSQL databases. In this presentation, Matt Asay will outline the reasons for NoSQL's existence and persistence, how the different NoSQL technologies help enterprises get control of Big Data, and will identify the trends that point to a bright future for post-relational databases.

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
