Good Evening to all.
I am here to present a brief seminar
on the Piping Material Specification
Piping Material Specification (PMS).
 PMS is detailed list comprising of piping components such as pipes, fittings,
flanges, valves and piping specials (SP) items which are used in Projects.
 PMS covers the details like materials, sizes, ends & applicable dimensional
standards.
 PMS is most important document because all piping materials used for the
projects is covered within the specification.
 PMS will guide a designer as to what fitting to use and when.
 PMS shows the details which are required for the Project Procurement
Department .
 PMS will change from Project to Project depending upon the Client
requirement.
The basic requirement for the
preparation of Piping Material

P= Piping System which comprises of pipes, fitting, flanges, valves
and special items.
The most common materials used for piping systems
are :
1. Carbon steel
• Material- ASTM A106 Gr.B, API 5L Gr. B, X52 & X60
• Construction – Seamless, ERW, SAW or L-SAW
2. Stainless Steel
• Material-316 SS, Duplex Stainless Steel, Super Duplex SS
• Construction – Seamless & ERW
3. Non Metallic
• Material – RTRP, FRP & GRE
• Construction - Adhesive, Mechanical or Flange joints
