1) Ispat, an Indian steel maker owned by the Mittal family, has debt of over Rs 6500 crore. Its lenders are considering taking a 31% stake in the company to help repay this debt.
2) The Sensex stock index crossed 19,000 for the first time in 32 months, rising 2.13%, led by companies like Reliance and HDFC. This increase was attributed to rising industrial production numbers.
3) State Bank of India is discussing forming a holding company structure with the Reserve Bank of India to more efficiently use its capital, as it controls about a quarter of India's loan and deposit markets.

5. State Bank mulls holding co. for Bank and Arms SBI india’s largest lender is in talking with the RBI to form a holding co. It will help to make more efficient use of it’s capital. SBI group controls close to ¼ of country’s market for loans and deposit is most “RIPE”. A holding company structure will obviate the need for the bank to set aside capital for all its enterprises .

Motorola hopes to launch tablet computer by early 2011 Mobile phone giant Motorola is looking at launching its tablet computer early next year, as the firm hopes to expand its product line beyond cell phones. Jha has tried to turn around Motorola's troubled cell phone business by refocusing it on smart phones powered by Google Inc's Android operating system, the Wall Street Journal said.
