The presentation discusses Jamaican author Jamaica Kincaid and how her work demonstrates the experience of being both colonized and becoming a colonizer. It analyzes several of her works, including the short story "Girl" and the books "A Small Place" and "Among Flowers," to show how they represent the binary opposition of England/the colonized as well as third spaces that challenge colonial perspectives. The presentation examines how Kincaid is able to critically scrutinize the behaviors of both colonizers and the colonized from stepping back from personal experience living under and imposing colonial rule.
