Firecom Automotive is an Italian company founded in 1998 that produces fire suppression systems using aerosol technology. Their systems use potassium salts that stratify in the air to hinder combustion reactions without damaging electronics. Their main products are systems for vehicles to protect engine compartments, including the AK0346 for minibuses and trucks, the AK0745 for buses and coaches, and the AK0746 to protect both engine and auxiliary heating compartments.

How does aerosol work?
The physical action is due to the higher specific weight of the
Potassium salts. These alkaline salts in the air with aerosol
tends to stratify. As the alkaline salts have the property to be
insert substances they hinder effectively the classic
interaction between combustible and supporter of
combustion that occur during the fire. In the meanwhile the
chemical reaction generates very strong and stable links
between potassium radicals and free radicals produced by
the combustion itself.

It consists of:
o n.1 command and control unit, KUS
o n.1 thermosensitive cable
o n.1-2 aerosol generators with 90g of extinguishing compound to
protect the engine compartment.
o Ak0346 is the simplified aersol system designed from
FirecomAutomotive. It’s dedicated to protect: minibus and trucks
o How does it work?
o When the fire start in engine compartment, the thermosensitive cable
detect the temperature and causes a short circuit, so the KUS activates
the generators.
o KUS functions:
o to manage thermosensitive cable that detect the fire;
to manage the FPG generator/s;
to control and check, with signal LED, the system

Firecom AK0745 for for Buses and Coaches
It consists of:
o n.1 electronic command and control unit, called UDS-A V1 /
15, equipped with an acoustic signal;
o n.3 thermosensitive sensors to be installed in the engine
compartment (threshold temperature 139 ° C);
o n.2 FPG aerosol dispensers with 715g of extinguishing
compound to protect the engine compartment.
o n.1 small generator plus pre-heater
HOW IT WORKS
o The thermal sensors detect the temperature in the various
controlled areas. As soon as one of the sensors detects a
temperature higher than the alarm threshold, this will be
considered by the electronic unit as a fire condition,
activating the regulators. If the engine compartment is
protected by two nozzles, delivery takes place in two
successive moments, preventing the fire from starting
again.
o The system operates in AUTOMATIC mode and is powered
by the vehicle's battery and can be interfaced with the CAN
BUS (optional).
o No maintenance required thank’s to the autodiagnostic and
led alarm on the panel

AK0746 is the system to detect and extinguish the fire in the engine compartment and in the webasto
compartment of the vehicle.
o Approved in accordance with the R107 regulation.
o The digital temperature sensors monitor the temperature and when the temperature reaches the
alarm temperature, they send the signal to the UDS-A control unit V1-15, the unit complies with the
EMC regulation Approved by the Ministry of Transport with the approval n. E3 10R-05 7194-00
o UDS-A activates the generators AUTOMATICALLY. It is powered by the vehicle battery and can be
interfaced with the CAN BUS (optional).
o No maintenance required thanks to the self-diagnosis and alarm LED on the panel.
