2. ELITE ART Club UNESCO, the sole Romanian representative of Jeunesses Musicales International
(JMI), is organizing in Romania the classical music project entitled International Conductors’
Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest. The project was originally initiated by JMI and today it is
one of the best-known and appreciated classical music competitions in the world. Created for and
dedicated to the young generation, the competition has a proud history of over half a century.
In Romania, the project has had an extraordinary evolution since its inception:

In 2014 the project was affiliated to the George Enescu International Competition
3. The International Conductors’ Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest is an unique
musical leadership project in Romania with a significant contribution to social development. The
conductor is par excellence a leader of his generation, for he creates orchestras by unifying the
performers and is a maestro of artistic perfection. The great Romanian conductors have
succeeded in creating orchestras which have made history and thus have contributed to the
creation of a musical culture which has functioned as a cultural landmark for the young generation
and has had
an educational role.
Currently, the role of civil society projects in the development of nowadays society is ever
increasing and we have taken upon us the mission of contributing to the development of young
Romanian artists so that Romanian values may enter the international circuit – paying equal
consideration to our significant contribution to the professional accomplishment of young Romanian
artists and the forming of a new, younger audience which understands and assigns to the
conductor a leadership role.
