Indian Cuisine Restaurant
Description of Restaurant
• A Restaurant is an establishment which prepares
and serves food and drink to customers in return
for money, either paid before the meal, after the
meal, or with a running tab. Meals are generally
out and eaten pm [remises, nut many restaurant
also offers takeout and food delivery services.
Restaurants vary greatly in appearance and
offerings,including a wide variety of the main
chef's cuisines and service models.
History
• In Ancient Rome, thermopolia (singular
thermopolium) were small restaurant-bars
which offered food and drinks to the customer.
A typical thermopolium had L-shaped counters
into which large storage vessels were sunk,
which would contain either hot or cold food.
They are linked to the absence of kitchen in
many dwellings and the ease with which people
could purchase prepared food.
Indian Cuisine
• Indian Cuisine consists of a variety of regional
and traditional cuisine native to India. Indian
Cuisine is incredibly diverse, characterized by a
rich blend of flavors, spices, and cooking
techniques. It varies regionally but often
includes staples like rice, lentils, and various
flatbreads. Many Indian ingredients and spices
are believed to have heatlh benefits and are
used in traditional ayurvedic medicine.
The Role Of Food in
Indian Life
• Food is believed to influence an individual's
well-being, behavior, and attitudes. It provides
nourishment for both the mind and the body.
• Indians believe that food has specific qualities
that are passed to the individual who consumes
the food
Traditional Indian Meal
• A common Indian meal might include: lentils
(called dhal in India),vegetable, fish or meat,
yogurt, and cereal (Wheats breads or rice).
Food is often served on banana leaves instead
of plates.
Sweet Cuisine of India
• Indian Sweets are known as "Mithai". They rely
heavily on sugar, milk and condensed milk and
frying. They're made mainly in Ghee which is
clarifies butter.
