This document discusses setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot using open source software. It provides an overview of captive portals and how they are used to direct users to a landing page for authentication. Instructions are given for setting up a hotspot using DD-WRT on a wireless router connected to a Linux server running FreeRadius, Apache, PHP and MySQL.
