GRP 2: ESSAY ON ATTITUDINAL CHANGE USING BROCHURES.
The University of Nairobi in partnership with Sokoine university of Agriculture in Tanzania,
Makerere University and the University of Copenhagen Denmark seeks to enlighten students
both in tertiary and secondary schools about agricultural courses. To do so, the University of
Nairobi used a brochure illustrating the courses, departments they are found and the career
outlets. The method is efficient and clear since it depicts only the important facts arousing the
interest of the reader. You will realize that passion, apart from working hard and smart, is the
major contributor to personal success and achievement. Therefore, any negative thought and talk
about agriculture gives you a negative opinion and thereafter lack of interest in it. It’s important,
therefore, to develop a culture of positive thinking all the time even when the situation looks
impossible. Agriculture is both an art and a science.
The discipline of agriculture is as important as that of medicine and engineering. However,
people tend to prefer careers that lead to other disciplines more than it is to agriculture due to
family pressure and public knowledge that agricultural jobs are manual. Honestly, much that has
been said about agriculture is ambiguous, erroneous and misleading, I think. These
miscellaneous talks and outdated beliefs are no different from the fairy tale of a one eyed
monster that our mothers used to threaten us with only to stop us from crying. Unfortunately,
such has left high school students perplexed between choosing and not choosing agriculture as a
career subject. Words may coincide in certain connections and so be interchanged, when they
cannot be interchanged in other connections. Therefore, with this pertinent essay you will realize
that the solution to this dilemma between students is somewhat easier in the present age than it
was centuries ago where agriculture was entirely about guesswork, so to say. There is a paradigm
shift in agriculture with modern agriculture incorporating many modern technologies and
research making it even more lucrative.
2. Have you been wandering which courses you can do in the university after taking agriculture?
Have you been confused upon which career agriculture can offer you in future? Well, I think, I
will gladly tell you that agriculture offers a wide range of science courses which later pays well
in your career. These include, but not limited to, veterinary medicine, range management,
agricultural education and extension, agro ecosystems, horticulture, crop protection major,
agricultural economics option, food science and nutrition and food science and technology. It’s
very simple to get to the University of Nairobi. Get the minimum requirement of a university
entry and join us. Surely what is more important like getting a degree from a recognized
university like university of Nairobi?
The goodness with agriculture you don’t wait on someone to employ you.. There is ready market
for you, for instance, in the case of food nutrition and dietetics you can work in any food
processing industry of your choice as a manager, so is food science and technology. for crop
protection and animal science, you have a great chance of working with international
organizations like NEMA. I want to luculently state that agriculture requires passion and
dedication. Take for instance the cases of Jethro tull who invented the seed drill, Robert bakewell
came up with selective breeding, Louis Pasteur invented pasteurization. Great scientists have
come through this field not forgetting the professors, doctors and lecturers of agriculture. Think
about the genetic engineers, agriculture biotechnologists, agronomists, seed biotechnologists,
nutritionists, pathologists, animal scientists, crop scientists, clinical doctors, vet nary doctors and
tell me if you can lack what to do. Become someone in life and even change the life of others by
joining agriculture. Three words you don’t want to forget,,, JOIN THE MOVEMENT!!!!
