The Convenience Gamot Program seeks to establish a nationwide network of accredited (Sari-Sari) Stores, each outlet distributing essentia l /non-prescription medicines, and home remedies. It is intended to address an expressed need to make quality essential medicine available, accessible, and above all, affordable to all. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

6. SALES BY MAJOR CHANNEL Drug Stores continued to be the major source of medicines, accounting to 90% of total sales while 10% of total sales were channeled through private and public hospitals. These trends have remained relatively consistent overtime.

7. ETHICAL AND PROPRIETARY MARKET Sales of ethical (or prescription) product accounted for 70% of the total market of Php 150 billion. The remaining 30% or Php 45 billion represented proprietary (or over-the-counter or non-prescription) drugs.

8. BRANDED AND UNBRANDED MARKET A Dominance of branded over unbranded medicines is evident, with the former generating sales of Php 138 billion or 92% of total market. Unbranded medicines continue to account for a very minimal share of the market, or only 8% (Php 12 billion).
