The mother fox warns her child not to separate from her as they walk through the forest. However, the young fox follows the scent of chestnuts and gets lost. Hunters and their dogs enter the forest to hunt, and the dogs catch the scent of the lost fox pup. A strong autumn storm hits as the mother searches for her pup. The pup is scared of the thunder and hunters. The hunters leave due to the rain, saying they will hunt another day. The mother finds the pup and gives him kisses, telling him to never separate from her again. The hunters are now far away.
