Richard Avedon was an American fashion photographer and portraitist born in New York City in 1923. He is known for his simple yet deeply psychological portraits of famous and unknown people against a plain white background. Avedon documented American culture and society in the second half of the 20th century through his photographs of notable figures that helped shape their time. He passed away in 2004 in San Antonio, Texas.

2. BIOGRAPHY Richard Avedon was born on 15 th of May 1923, in New York. He was a American fashion photographer and portraitist of fifties. Early in his career he attended actors and theater performances, leaving himself tempted by the magic of the stage. It was a very simple portrait, but deeply psychological, famous and unknown people as opposed to a white background. He was a witness in the second half of the twentieth century, pervades the world cultural and intellectual at the time of the plot and personalities that shape American society. He was dead on 1 st of October 2004 in San Antonio (Texas).
