We have five senses that allow us to experience the world: sight through our eyes, taste through our mouth, smell through our nose, touch through our hands, and hearing through our ears. Each of the five senses - sight, taste, smell, touch, and hearing - are associated with different parts of the body that allow us to perceive our surroundings. Our senses give us information about the world around us through what we can see, taste, smell, touch, and hear.

Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”. All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
