This study examined whether performance on a computerized virtual patient case correlated with 145 third-year medical students' academic performance on other assessments. The students completed a simulated case involving a 47-year-old male with jaundice and hematemesis. The study found no correlation between students' performance on the virtual patient case and their grades on clinical clerkships, standardized exam scores, or USMLE Steps 1 and 2. Specifically, the students' ability to make a diagnosis using the virtual patient did not correlate with their other measures of academic achievement. The researchers concluded the computer simulation case had limited value as an evaluation method for medical student performance.
IRJET - Alzheimer’s Detection Model Using Machine LearningIRJET Journal
This document discusses a machine learning model for detecting Alzheimer's disease using MRI scans. It proposes using deep learning techniques to accurately detect Alzheimer's and its early stages from structural MRI images. The model would combine MRI data with neuropsychological tests as input for classifying Alzheimer's disease and its prodromal stages. It describes developing a classification model using techniques like data preprocessing, feature extraction, training classifiers like random forests, and selecting the best performing model to use for predictions. The goal is to create a more reliable, cost-effective and fast way to diagnose Alzheimer's compared to conventional expert-based methods.
This document is about a "Pet Vet" summer camp for 4th and 5th graders that will take place from July 9-13, 2012. The camp will teach students about caring for pets and what veterinarians do through hands-on activities and lessons. Campers will learn basic first aid, grooming, and more while interacting with real animals.
Learning English abroad has several key advantages over learning it in one's home country. It immerses students in an exclusively English environment where they must use English for all daily activities and communication. This forces them to think in English as well. Living in an English-speaking country also helps students improve their pronunciation and develop an accent close to a native speaker's. However, some individuals may struggle to adapt to a new culture and find it psychologically difficult and expensive to learn a language abroad.
The document discusses Argentina's economy and key industries such as agriculture, livestock, and construction. It then focuses on Valioso Inc., an Argentinian company involved in lithium and gold mining projects. Valioso has over 25 years of experience managing mining risks and uses innovative technology for its projects in the Salar del Hombre Muerto lithium deposit and Pascua Lama gold deposit.
The document summarizes a question answering system developed by researchers at "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iași, Romania to answer questions in Romanian, English, and French. It discusses the system components, results from evaluations of the system from 2006 to 2010 where accuracy improved from 9.47% to 47.5%, and potential applications of the system like eLearning and robotics. It also outlines future work to expand the knowledge bases and integrate the question answering capabilities into other applications.
A.I. in the Real World - Sussex Uni lecture March 2011Ian Ozsvald
The document discusses Ian Ozsvald's experience working with AI companies SearchSpace and Mathematic Appliquées SA, as well as some big AI projects like DARPA's Grand Challenge and Netflix Prize. It then lists some problems that could be solved with AI like video scene search and object recognition. The document provides tips for starting an AI project, including using AWS, open source tools like OpenCV and NLTK, and talking to others who have started projects. It emphasizes getting started, making demos, and finding users rather than focusing on funding or IP issues.
The document appears to be a portfolio from a graphic designer showcasing samples of their work including flyers, illustrations, proposals and newsletters created using software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Word. Michael Sutor dreams of earning a Master's degree in math. He is good at math and took advanced math courses in 4th grade. He wants to accomplish getting a Master's to earn money, be looked up to, feel accomplished, and have a comfortable life. He is inspired by Albert Einstein who learned math at a young age and taught in multiple countries.
The document discusses the new media technologies used during the construction, research, planning and evaluation stages of a music video project. During construction, the student used a Panasonic video camera, tripod, and iMovie software to film and edit the video. For research and planning, a Blogger site was used to document decisions and findings. PowerPoint and additional video filming and editing were used for the evaluation. Challenges encountered included software limitations and equipment restrictions, which informed how the student would approach future projects.

The document provides an overview of ancient Greek and Minoan civilizations. It describes how the Minoan civilization on the island of Crete, dating from 2700-1100 BCE, was influenced by Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures and centered around large palace complexes like the Palace of Knossos. It then discusses how the Mycenaean civilization emerged in mainland Greece in the 15th century BCE, being influenced by the Minoans and building large palaces and tholos tombs. After the collapse of these civilizations around 1200 BCE, Greece entered a dark age until the rise of independent city-states called poleis beginning around 750 BCE.

Girlstart Under the Sea 4th-5th grade Wk 3Girlstart
This document outlines a summer camp program for 4th and 5th graders held from June 24-28, 2013 with an "Under the Sea" theme. The camp will explore ocean life through hands-on activities and learning experiences related to marine biology, oceanography, and underwater ecosystems over the course of the five day program.
The document discusses the universal law of gravitation and how it affects falling objects on Earth. Gravity causes all objects to attract each other, with the force depending on their masses and distance between them. When objects fall near Earth's surface, they accelerate at 9.8 m/s2 due to gravity. While gravity causes all objects to fall at the same rate in a vacuum, air resistance opposes smaller, lighter objects so their acceleration decreases until they reach a terminal velocity where air resistance equals the force of gravity.

Doctors typically work shifts in hospitals and clinics, wearing a white coat, scrubs, and stethoscope as they make rounds to examine patients and make diagnoses using medical equipment like scopes. They write prescriptions for medicine and also work with nurses, office staff, and pharmacists who help treat patients and fill prescriptions, while some doctors handle emergencies by taking x-rays or setting broken bones. Most doctors go to school for 8 years followed by 3 years of residency training.
