Automakers are under increasing pressure to improve fuel economy due to rising fuel costs and tougher emissions regulations. To meet these standards, automakers are pursuing "lightweighting" strategies to reduce vehicle weight by 30% without increasing costs. This involves using lighter materials like aluminum, carbon fiber, and plastics instead of steel. While carbon fiber offers the most weight savings, it also increases manufacturing costs. Automakers must overcome constraints like increased costs, safety concerns, and developing new infrastructure to produce lighter vehicles and meet future fuel economy mandates. Collaboration between automakers and suppliers will be key to successfully implementing lightweighting strategies.

Cell Therapy Expansion and Challenges in Autoimmune DiseaseHealth Advances
There is increasing confidence that cell therapies will soon play a role in the treatment of autoimmune disorders, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen. Early readouts on autologous CAR-Ts in lupus are encouraging, but manufacturing and cost limitations are likely to restrict access to highly refractory patients. Allogeneic CAR-Ts have the potential to broaden access to earlier lines of treatment due to their inherent cost benefits, however they will need to demonstrate comparable or improved efficacy to established modalities.
In addition to infrastructure and capacity constraints, CAR-Ts face a very different risk-benefit dynamic in autoimmune compared to oncology, highlighting the need for tolerable therapies with low adverse event risk. CAR-NK and Treg-based therapies are also being developed in certain autoimmune disorders and may demonstrate favorable safety profiles. Several novel non-cell therapies such as bispecific antibodies, nanobodies, and RNAi drugs, may also offer future alternative competitive solutions with variable value propositions.
Widespread adoption of cell therapies will not only require strong efficacy and safety data, but also adapted pricing and access strategies. At oncology-based price points, CAR-Ts are unlikely to achieve broad market access in autoimmune disorders, with eligible patient populations that are potentially orders of magnitude greater than the number of currently addressable cancer patients. Developers have made strides towards reducing cell therapy COGS while improving manufacturing efficiency, but payors will inevitably restrict access until more sustainable pricing is achieved.
Despite these headwinds, industry leaders and investors remain confident that cell therapies are poised to address significant unmet need in patients suffering from autoimmune disorders. However, the extent of this impact on the treatment landscape remains to be seen, as the industry rapidly approaches an inflection point.

Mediator
Positive Inserter
Listener (Empath)
I’ve learned how to help my group get along. Due to the varying personalities within our group dynamic, we can go from friendly, group song bonding to claws and teeth combat in no time. I also noticed with the Hal Rodger kids that my strength is creating a productive positive flow within big groups. This matters because the majority of life surrounds group collaboration (eastern Kentucky insight) and there will be times like EPG in which someone has to have a light or one positive voice in the ocean of naysayers and by standers.

Listener (Empath)
I find pride in aiding others and feeling like I’ve been useful. I also don’t function well around tense nor negative energy. I think the most efficient collaboration comes from understanding your teammates and listening to others.
I’ve become a good spotter of possible interviewees, knowledge, resources, documentation, and various forms of information. This matters because if my group over looks something or has questions, I have answers. I make myself a valuable resource for them.
I see this in myself as I attempt to understand others rather than fight them. I also took a lot of time to view the situations of our counties with fresh, unbiased eyes. Through observation and non directive questioning I understand more.
I used this summer to better understand myself and how I function. My goal was to be able to walk away from this program with a better idea of who I am. This matters because I am now entering my second year of college and it is time to be focused on my future. Also, I can’t help others if I don’t know who I am first.
I didn’t come into EPG with any expectations or goals. I simply entered prepared for the unknown and when given the assignments and syllabus, I attempted to do my best to perform well. I don’t regret any of the decisions I have made.

I focused more on the experience rather than assignments. (Don’t worry, I did my work first, but I made sure that I wasn’t missing the moment. I wasn’t blinded by a grade.)
I realized that my role in the group is being a mediator.
I realized that I’m not type A material.

I realized that I enjoyed doing crafts with young people.
I now know that an artist can survive EPG.
I also take complete ownership of every decision that I make.

My most memorable experience during the EPG summer was working with Lindsey (8 year old girl-artist in the making) and Stevie (5 year old girl).
As well as the 10 year reunion, which I’ll come back to later on in this presentation.

It was hard to pin point my mulligans. However, I would have properly labeled my first three writing assignments for a better grade. I also would have preferred to spend more time in Owsley county over our three weeks in Eastern Kentucky.
