VISION          PROMOTE A FREE SPACE OF HIGHER LEARNING
                THROUGH DISCOVERY AND TECHNOLOGY

SITE           THE SITE CHOSEN FOR THIS NEW LIBRARY IS IN THE HISTORIC
               DISTRICT OF GILBERT, AZ., WHERE THE TOWN ITSELF CHOOSES TO LIVE
               IN THE PAST ONLY TO TAKE A PEAK AT THE FUTURE FROM TIME TO TIME.
               BY USING A MODERN APPROACH TO THE DESIGN OF THE STRUCTURE IT
               WILL BRING THE FOCUS OF THE TOWN TOWARD THE FUTURE

USE            OVER TIME THE LIBRARY BECOMES A DESTINATION, AS THE NEEDS OF
               THE LIBRARY CHANGE, CONTAINERS CAN BE ADDED OR REMOVED
               TO ACCOMMODATE FUTURE USE.

ARCHITECTURE   THE ARCHITECTURE OF THE BUILDING HAS A DETACHABLE UNIT FOR USE
                AS A MOBILE LIBRARY. THIS UNIT CAN BE LOADED AND UNLOADED WITH
                DIFFERENT COLLECTIONS OF BOOKS AND TAKEN TO THE COMMUNITY
                MATERIALS ISO SHIPPING CONTAINERS, 40 MILL CERAMIC EXTERIOR
                INSULATION,WHICH PROVIDES AN R 20 RATING

CLIMATE
RESPONSE       BY DESIGNING THE BUILDING AROUND A LARGE COURTYARD AND
               ADDING A LIVING CANOPY AT THE TOP THE SPACE WHICH BECOMES
               A SMALL MICRO CLIMATE.
