The policeman faces God after death and worries that as a police officer he has not always lived up to the standards expected of those in the church. He admits to having to work on Sundays, using rough language sometimes, and occasionally using violence due to the dangers of his job. However, he insists he never stole and always helped those in need. Though fearful at times, he asks God for a place among the saints, even if a modest one, for his service. God tells the policeman he has borne his burdens well and invites him to patrol the golden streets of Heaven for protecting citizens at risk to his own life.
