To promote an East Asian country, its people must have individual achievements in their community. They built solidarity against communist expansion from Vietnam. In 1990, Malaysia proposed creating an East Asia Economic Caucus of 10 ASEAN countries plus China, Japan, and South Korea to further economic cooperation.
