Two methods are provided to install PMD: using a remote update site or a zip file. The easiest method is to use the remote update site which involves launching Eclipse, navigating to Help | Install New Software, adding the PMD update site URL, and entering a name and URL. PMD requires sufficient memory, such as allocating 512M of memory using the eclipse.exe -vmargs -Xmx512M command.
